Sandisk Ultra Flair 32GB USB 3.0 Stick Black
213 out of 238 members found this review helpful05at 2019-05-17To some "professionals" in the field who suggest not to get it because it's slow, I have the following to say:
First of all, if you haven't formatted it to NTFS, then you can't write files larger than 4GB.
Also, NTFS, FAT32, and all those are FileSystems or otherwise known as Allocation Table architectures, they have nothing to do with encoding.
Lastly, and most importantly:
In order to take advantage of the capabilities of a USB 3.0 flash drive, guess which port you should connect it to?
Exactly! To a USB 3.0 port! USB 3.0 was introduced in 2008, if someone has a PC that old and buys a USB 3.0 flash drive and has demands... they shouldn't have demands.Oh! and one more thing, in order to measure the performance of R/W processes, it's not enough to just copy 5-10GB inside and say "Oh! it's slow." Each storage space has different speeds and different behavior in random Read/Writes, large files R/W, and sequential R/W. So the number that appears in file copy in Windows is not indicative.
Before a "specialist" comments on how slow it is, it would be good to download Crystal Disk Mark, run it first to see if the numbers are not what is advertised, and then comment.EDIT:
After 2 and a half years of use with an average Read/Write of 10GB per month, nothing has happened, neither externally nor have the speeds dropped at all.
EDIT2:
From the moment they were purchased (around 2017 for about 6.5 euros) until the moment the initial review was made, until the end of 2020 when I am editing, they have not deteriorated in performance at all (except for external scratches, etc.) and they work normally. I want to mention that although their price/performance is still decent, USB-C is becoming more available, with better performance and *much* better interface. So now it might be more future-proof to spend 1-5 euros more and get a USB 3.1 and above.- Speed
- Value for money
- Construction quality
- Durability
