Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine Special Edition Unmanaged L2 PoE+ Switch with 8 Gigabit (1Gbps) Ethernet Ports
at 2023-02-02Verified purchaseIt was purchased to replace an existing Ubiquiti Dream Router, which is rated at approximately 700 Mbps throughput and cannot deliver full gigabit from a gigabit connection due to CPU bottleneck.
Although not listed in the specifications here, it has 3 WAN ports and supports load balancing and failover WAN. One of the 3 WAN ports is 2.5G and the other 2 are 10G (SFP).
In a home installation, with 3 different VLANs (Main, Guest, and IoT), it doesn't lag anywhere. It handles all the traffic and its CPU usage is 20-30%. It delivers the full gigabit without any bottlenecks. Note: with IPS/DPI enabled, I had around 800 Mbps throughput, but this is solved with the latest version of UniFi OS, which greatly improves traffic handling from the 2.5G WAN port. I recommend to those who have it or are going to buy it and have Gbit+ connections, to immediately upgrade UniFi OS and the Network app to the latest versions.
In terms of installation and configuration, it is quite user-friendly for users with minimal or moderate networking knowledge. The initial setup is done through the Ubiquiti app on a mobile device, which recognizes it as a new device as soon as it is powered on and starts the setup process. Alternatively, one can set it up easily through a computer and cable.
Its packaging includes a mounting bracket for a rack, which I used to securely mount it vertically on the wall.
The touch screen is theoretically useless since the information it provides is minimal compared to what one can see on their mobile or PC through the network app, where they can view performance and connection logs in more detail.
Overall, it is a great switch with many features, noob-friendly, and plays well with the Ubiquiti ecosystem in a plug & play style. It may be overly expensive for home use, but you get what you pay for. It is feature-rich, doesn't lag anywhere, has a user-friendly interface for every user regardless of experience, and offers a comprehensive solution for someone who wants to set up an IoT environment in their home.

MSI GeForce RTX 4090 24GB GDDR6X Gaming X Trio Graphics Card
at 2022-12-24Verified purchaseThe card is a HUGE upgrade from the 3080 Ti I had before. Paired with an i7 13700K.
With the 3080 Ti in Microsoft Flight Simulator and all settings on Ultra, I had 60-70 FPS at 2K and significant stuttering in heavy scenes. With the RTX 4090, I have 110-120 FPS at 4K, with all settings on Ultra and DLSS (frame generation) enabled, which is significantly improved from version 2.
In other titles (Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Witcher 3 Next-Gen, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered), I consistently have over 144 FPS without drops. The cooling is quite good in terms of temperatures. I've seen it reach 68-72 degrees under heavy load max.
In terms of performance, I am thoroughly satisfied with the card.
On the downside, its enormous size takes up 3-4 PCIe slots. This specific one has a support bracket to keep it straight, which is a plus. In certain titles, it has noticeable coil whine (mainly in menus where there is no frame cap), which disappears or is almost inaudible with a good fan curve (covered by the fans). Of course, coil whine tends to decrease after a period of use in many cards, so we'll see.
Overall, the card is a powerful upgrade from previous generations due to DLSS 3, frame generation, and the new RTX version. Someone who wants to go for the 4080 is better off waiting for its price to drop and getting the 4090 in my opinion.
