Having been a owner for a year, with daily use in various conditions, I think I should write a review.
I have never had another waist bag, so I have no point of comparison.
That said, the bag has amazing seams, and very high-quality zippers. They must endure dozens of open-close actions every day for a year, and they are just fine. Like any proper bag, it has a double zipper for the main compartment, so it opens easily regardless of setup. Tip: if you grab the zipper with one hand and the small flaps that protrude on the sides with the other, it makes opening easier.
The material being Cordura, is what you expect: I have dragged it through branches, concrete, it has endured rain, sand, sun, sweat and it still looks like it does in the photos. Like new. It washes very easily by hand when needed.
In terms of space, there has never been a moment where I thought I would like something bigger. It holds what I want. Sometimes I have even put my raincoat inside. I think anything bigger would become too heavy to stand well, it would need different straps, it would be something else altogether.
In the organization panel it has, I usually put two small pens that I have. The elastic bands there have equal distances between them, ideally I would like some with a little more space to fit something larger, e.g. a Leatherman multi-tool. Of course, with the MOLLE/PALS it has, it easily accommodates a small multi-tool pouch.
I wear it quite comfortably both crossbody and at the waist, depending on my clothing (e.g. if I wear a thick jacket, it’s not convenient to wear at my waist).
Regarding whether the strap "slips" and gradually grows, I would say yes, it slips. But over the course of weeks. It’s not at an uncomfortable and annoying pace.
As for the adjustment where you completely remove the strap and pass it through the belt, it’s possible. It didn’t seem convenient to me but it can be done. What seemed more convenient to me is to pass it through some strap on the backpack so you suddenly turn it into a pouch.

Amazing sharpening, very good blade retention. I use it for all the "cuts" at home. Packages, ties, ropes, fabrics. I would buy it again.

Savotta Jääkäri Military Backpack Backpack made of Cordura Khaki 55lt
at 2024-07-16Verified purchaseAmazing build quality.
Incredibly modular, as it has MOLLE everywhere, so you can create a different pack every day according to your needs.
Even more amazing is that the hip belt is detachable and can be used independently as a battle belt or a lightweight way to carry essentials without needing a large backpack. For example, you can put a water bottle, a first aid kit, a pouch with essentials on it and go for a short hike. Later, you can attach it to the rest and continue the long journey.
It has an internal frame that can be removed if you want, as well as the "lid". If you remove all of these (frame, lid, hip belt) suddenly you have a very lightweight backpack.
Regarding the size (L) I think it's nice because you can use it from a day hike by loading it a little, without any pouches, to a multi-day hike by adding a sleeping pad, sleeping bag, 12L pouches, etc.
Because it is military, be prepared: it does not have pockets for a thermos/water bottle on the sides. You will either need to attach the corresponding MOLLE pouch, or you will have to carry your water from the inside. Of course, it also has a compartment and hole for a Camelback.
I have it for a few months (not years), but I hope that after years I can come back and write that everything is still perfect. At least that's what everyone who has had it for years says.

Fiskars Knife Orange with Blade made of Steel in Sheath
at 2021-12-27I have had it for about two years and I use it frequently for carving wood. With this specific type of sharpening (Scandinavian Grind), it is perfect for such tasks. It remains quite sharp even now. Many times I have used it to split branches by hitting the back of it with another piece of wood, and it always performs wonderfully.

Morakniv Eldris Light Duty Knife Blue with Blade made of Stainless Steel
at 2021-12-27It is a knife that you throw in your bag and forget it exists until you need it. Its blade is sharpened with the Scandinavian Grind, which is a rather rare sharpening technique for knives in general. It is very sharp and suitable for small woodworking tasks. Obviously, it also handles fishing lines, ropes, and food equally well. The mechanism for inserting and locking it in the sheath is very simple but surprisingly effective, it locks well. When I hang it around my neck, I never feel bothered or insecure that it will come off.

Opinel No.8 Inox Pocket Knife Brown with Blade made of Stainless Steel
at 2021-12-27I have Opinel in mind as the Morakniv but for softer tasks. It is the best value for money I have found for this price. Specifically, I use the No8 daily for cutting fruits or whatever else is needed in cooking. I always take it with me on hikes for small tasks (Attention though, it is not a survival knife). It is quite good at maintaining its blade. Bonus is the locking mechanism of the blade, so you don't have to worry about it closing on your hands.

- Stability while walking
- Material quality
- Value for money
- Durability
- They don't hit the foot
- Do they have the expected size?
