Just what I need for large hands. The 4 stars are due to the esc key which is a bit off on the top left! Otherwise, it is flawless, I have had it for 2 years and it has not presented any issues. The mouse is satisfying and heavy, just the way I like a mouse to be. I recommend it
It has many useful auxiliary buttons. It does not have lights, but that does not bother me at all. It is a good ergonomic tool.
The mouse is terrible. I work on Windows 11 and it constantly freezes. When it's not freezing, the pointer moves either like a dying fly or like a mentally challenged drugged kangaroo. The situation is only saved by the keyboard, which is easily the second best I've had. But with such a mouse, stay away...
The first one lasted a year. The mouse wheel was sticking. They replaced it for me. The second one is the same with a risk of injury (I'm already in pain). I hope they will replace it with something else.
The only negative thing for me is that it does not have LED indicators for CapsLock and NumLock, and that the Esc key and the F1, F2, etc. keys are very small, but with more emphasis on the Esc key since the others are not frequently used.
Coming from a Logitech combo (keyboard + mouse), for office work, the Microsoft set is not comparable in terms of quality, price, and application. So, I made a mistake..!
With just 2 hours of use from the moment I opened the box, the left button of the mouse started making a strange sound that, if you hear it all day, you need a tranquilizer. And then the scroll wheel started sticking as if the page in Chrome had finished loading, but the mouse was stuck. On the positive side, the mouse is heavy and has accuracy, probably due to Blue track.
The keyboard has a nice feel to the buttons, though: if you are right-handed, the basic extra functions (volume control) are on the right side of the keyboard, so you have to leave the mouse. The buttons are so small that at first, you think they forgot to put them in..
The specific ergonomic keyboard layout (Comfort Curve) has such devoted fans that it forced Microsoft to keep it in production almost unchanged since 2007, alongside whatever new products it has introduced since then. The keys form a slight curve on the horizontal plane. In the past, there were other versions, an affordable wired one (23€) and a cheaper wireless one, but unfortunately they were discontinued. Having tried almost all versions of "ergonomic" keyboards regardless of cost, I consider this one to be the best by far and personally it suits me so well that I forgive its two noticeable flaws:
1) the absence of LED indicators for CapsLock, NumLock, ScrollLock, obviously for battery saving, but ... come on Microsoft! at this price range?!
2) The tiny and inconvenient Esc key that is a torment for everyone. The same goes for the F1, F2, etc. but this concerns the few who use them frequently.
Other than that, the build quality is very good. The same goes for the non-slip wrist support surface (with silicone coating) which, although it is a bit difficult to clean, fortunately it is there, just as it is, for those who type for hours. Finally, there are a bunch of shortcut keys that will serve many.
Tremendous ergonomics for those who are accustomed to Microsoft keyboards. The keys are right where they should be for blind typing. The mouse is quite large but very ergonomic (fits perfectly in the palm). I liked the sturdy keyboard supports, unlike the fake supports that most keyboards have.
A little complaint: Noise from the mouse buttons and less from the space bar.
The durability of Microsoft keyboards is good and they easily last for 5 years with heavy use.
I think it is the best keyboard I have ever bought. The buttons it has will help you a lot with folder and task-related issues. What I don't understand is why it doesn't have a light indicating when you have capital letters, like the Num lock light that we have seen on all keyboards for so many years. How much power does a small indicator LED consume anyway? The only noisy key I notice is the spacebar, although all keys make a little noise, but in terms of writing and feeling, it is very good. You can write quickly and overall, I think it's worth buying. The mouse works immediately and quickly. With all the features it has as a multimedia keyboard, if it had two USB ports, it would be even more complete.
I got it for semi-professional use.
It doesn't lag at all, it's very convenient, it doesn't tire me!
The big downside for me is the top row of keys (ESC, F1, etc.) is "recessed" inward and is not convenient at all. Especially the ESC key, which almost touches the key below it and creates problems in its use.
The mouse is perfect, except for the scroll that takes very large steps.
I bought this keyboard a few months ago as a fan of Microsoft keyboards. I emphasize this because Logitech, although a very good company, may not accomodate Microsoft users very much due to small differences in keyboard layout.
For the time it works properly enough (although at the beginning the mouse had connectivity issues and kept on acting up, to the point that I was avoiding it and used a wired mouse instead, especially when precision was required).
I also had some difficulty adjusting to the keyboard, partly because I extensively use the CTRL+C and CTRL+V shortcuts for copy and paste. Since the size of the left Shift key is larger than in other keyboards, I kept hitting x instead of c, and c instead of v, resulting to totaly different actions.
Another major drawback is the use of the Function key to gain access to special keyboard functions. This key (switch to be precise, which makes the situation even more difficult) is remote, located in the upper right corner of the keyboard.
As for the quality, although it appears sturdy and well-built, it is also heavier and I'm not sure if it can withstand drops as well as a regular keyboard, unless for you the drops of a wireless keyboard are not at all unlikely.
The absence of indicator lights for Caps Lock and Num Lock is not practical, but I imagine it serves to save battery.
Finally, not to mention only the negatives, the wrist support base integrated into the keyboard is very good and practical (made of synthetic material like leather to avoid getting dirty). Also, the ergonomics of the curved key layout is satisfactory.
I think I would prefer to have bought the Microsoft Wireless Desktop 900 since objectively there are no significant differences to justify the price difference of about €20.
UPDATE APRIL 2021
The mouse has followed a declining trend over time, resulting in the left button not functioning correctly 25% of the time it is pressed. Of course, it has been 3 years of (not excessively systematic) use. Cleaning did not help.
I have bought a set from another company at a higher price. The feel of the mouse and the keys on the 5050 is unbeatable. What I consider to be not in line with the quality are the plastic detachable feet.
It may have great range, satisfactory build quality, and long battery life, but the keyboard suffers in 3 significant areas.
01. It does not have the classic lights for Caps Lock, Num Lock, and ScrLk, which makes typing a torture.
02. The keys Esc, F1, F2, etc. are not at all convenient.
03. The plastic (latex-type) on the bottom of the keyboard gets dirty relatively easily.
