There are many tragic and other significant events that I covered journalistically during my long career: deadly shipwrecks, kidnappings for ransom, hijackings, bus hijackings, antiquities smuggling, fatal and destructive earthquakes, large fires with tragic consequences, aviation accidents, deadly traffic accidents, various types of accidents with many victims, as well as many other cases that we remember both young and old.
I experienced all these cases included in the book up close. I always reported from the scene where the events took place. I recorded every notable development. I informed readers and viewers in simple terms about what happened, how it happened, why it happened, the consequences that followed, and every significant aspect that presented interest.
This is what I tried to do in this book as well. An objective recording of what I saw and experienced in journalistic missions, without a trace of exaggeration, without a trace of magnification. In short, it is a compendium of all the major events that shook public opinion over the last thirty-five years.
