The top compact phone!
Returning to Samsung after 6 years with Xiaomi, as I got tired of the flip-flops and wanted a truly compact phone, so Samsung and the S25 were the only option if I wanted to stay on Android! The switch from Xiaomi felt a bit strange at first, but as the days go by and I get used to Samsung's One UI7, I'm starting to love it a little more!
Let's take a look at the positives, negatives, and what I would like the phone to have.
Positives:
1. Number one, of course, could only be the size of the device! After all, that's why I got it and I wasn't expecting the Xiaomi 15! If someone really wants a compact Android phone, the Galaxy S series in general and the S25 in particular are the only choice! Dimensions 146.9x70.5x7.2 mm and weighing just 169 grams with tempered glass and 162 without! The next compact Android phone from another manufacturer weighs 30 grams more! And yes, maybe the number doesn't seem large, but believe me, in hand it is!
2. Excellent Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X, 120Hz, HDR10+ display (even if the panel isn't 10 or 12 bit like some Chinese brands use) with brightness more than sufficient to make anything you see absolutely clear even with the sun shining on it!
3. Cameras. Yes, Samsung may have given us the same hardware it has been using for the last three years, but that doesn't mean the results aren't absolutely satisfactory! The main camera still takes high-quality photos in any condition, except (like almost all Samsung phones) moving objects in low-light conditions. You can somewhat solve this issue (if you have a bit of knowledge about the subject of the photo) with manual settings! The UW camera is also good, which remains one of the best UWs on the market. It doesn't have the quality of the main camera, but the results are still satisfactory! Here I should mention that due to the lack of AF, you can't take macro photos with the quality of the iPhone 16. The telephoto is also very good with 3× optical zoom and excellent image quality at 3×, and very good photos up to 10×. The zoom goes up to 30×, although after 10× the quality drops significantly. Finally, the selfie camera remains one of the top on the market alongside Pixel and iPhone.
4....battery. The truth is I was afraid of the battery, but in the first few days I've had it, my jaw has dropped from its duration, even though it's only 4000mAh! Here you wonder what Samsung could achieve with the optimization it has if it used some Si/C Li-Ion of larger capacity! With everything turned on (Wi-Fi, 5G, Bluetooth, location), connected to a smartwatch and not leaving it too far from my hand, after all, I'm still learning and playing with it, from 90% when I charge it, it easily lasts the day (with many calls, messages, internet, social media, music, navigation via Google Maps) and I return home with around 40%! There was indeed a day I returned with just over 20%! Here I should point out that navigation consumes quite a bit of battery, perhaps it will be fixed with future updates. Also, from what I've read, on Samsung devices, the battery improves after two or three weeks as the software learns your habits, so I'm expecting even better results! ***I want to emphasize again here that I DO NOT PLAY GAMES on the phone. If you play heavy games, the battery life may not satisfy you!
5. The processor is outstanding! Snapdragon Elite for Galaxy, the best currently available on the market! I was impressed that the phone did not heat up even during the setup with data transfer, which almost all phones tend to heat up! It does get a bit warm when using the camera, but not to the point of being annoying. Of course, it will be interesting to see how it handles overheating in the summer with temperatures over 30°! Also, I don’t play games, so I don’t know what happens in that specific case!
6. Build quality. The build quality is among the best, if not the best currently in a phone.
7. Sound. Quite loud and with very good quality, especially with Dolby Atmos activated!
8. The fingerprint sensor, although ultrasonic, works perfectly even with tempered glass, but you need to get used to it a bit. The optical sensors found in other phones work better with protective glass, but they are not as secure as the ultrasonic. Without a glass protector, the ultrasonic is unbeatable.
9. Excellent call quality, whether from the earpiece or the speakers.
Negatives:
⛔ Charging speed. 25 watts is ridiculous for this price category in 2025, when Chinese manufacturers offer at least 33 watts in their entry-level phones and reach 100+ watts in their flagships! Yes, it charges relatively quickly since the battery capacity is small, but it should have at least 45 watts. Even the wireless charging is laughable; it could have been at least 25 watts like Apple’s. I won’t even mention the 50 watts from the Chinese.
Neutrals:
In the neutrals, the IP68 certification, since almost all phones in this price category have it, not to mention that some manufacturers are already releasing phones with IP69!
- Unlike Xiaomi, you can find a lot of accessories.
Things I would like Samsung to change:
- Charging speed (45 watts would be more than enough for the S25)
- New sensors in the cameras.
- Si/C Li-Ion battery with a larger capacity in the same size!
- To have used Gorilla Glass Armor that eliminates reflections!
- Titanium frame (yes, I want a lot!)
In conclusion, SAMSUNG has given us the top (truly) compact phone for 2025, but missed the opportunity to give us the best phone overall with a few changes! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a convenient compact phone that does everything effortlessly. Of course, those who have the S24 (or even S23) should not bother upgrading.
P.S. I added a screenshot of battery usage after a week of using the phone, so further improvement is expected! The phone was unplugged at 01:00 with 100% charge, and by 20:15 in the evening with everything on, connected watch, four hours of screen on time + an hour and a half of calls via Bluetooth headphones, it was at 50% as you can see! Mindblowing!
