I have connected it to a tplink modem-router and it helped fully utilize the speed.
It easily handles several devices, personally I have connected 5.
The WiFi has a great range, especially the 5G reaches up to the gate, but I have disabled it because I think it gave me a headache when I was near the device.
Many security parameters.
However, be careful, it is NOT a modem.
It is very worth it for the money it costs and the capabilities it has.
5G is a clear improvement in terms of speed and interference issues.
The problem with this specific router is its simple 10/100 wired ethernet, so it loses a lot in file transfers from the NAS.
Also, occasionally the Chromecast loses connection (not such a big problem for Netflix & YouTube but a major issue for Plex), and finally, some connections occasionally run in isolation and the only way to recover the router is to reboot it.
Update: with the latest firmware, some of the issues seem to have been resolved.
Update 2: after a while of being useless, I decided to try it in bridge mode with the useless Nova VDSL router modem. Night and day difference. Faster and more stable intranet within the house, and many features that are not visible in other modes (e.g., bandwidth control). A must-have that unfortunately people don't know about. I am revising my rating upwards.
Update 3: due to remote work, I require stability, so I noticed that a programmed restart every morning helps. Additionally, "bandwidth control," although it works, puts a lot of strain on the router and reduces its performance
I use it as an access point for my Vodafone router since it has a problem with its WiFi. Although it provides almost the same wireless speed as the modem, the signal is weak on the upper floor. Additionally, it does not have a setting to automatically turn off its WiFi at night.
Purchased as a gift and initially installed for testing on a Greek VDSL Cosmote (100Mbps download / 10Mbps upload) with Speedtest ookla showing 94Mbps download and 9.3Mbps upload. In an external household optical GPON connection with a speed of 100Megabits download / 100Megabits upload, it literally "performed excellently" with 94.6Mbps download and 96.1Mbps upload on the 5GHz band, while on the 2.4GHz band it provided 89Mbps download and 94Mbps upload in direct contact with the router at a distance of 5 meters. It is a reliable router with a Mediatek chipset and a beautiful interface. In apartments, I experimented quite a bit with many tests on the 5GHz band and a bandwidth of 40-80MHz, strictly setting it manually and never on Auto setting for maximum performance. Using the Wifi Analyzer Android application, you can find a relatively more open channel between 9-13, compared to neighboring Wi-Fi networks, and set it there. Turn off the Wi-Fi from the provider's router and enjoy true performance. Still thinking about it...?
Quite a good quality Router. The signal range in the 2.4 GHz band is quite good, however it has a weakness in the 5 GHz band, for which the presence of devices in the same space is required, as obstacles dramatically reduce its signal. However, the speed in the 5 GHz band is incredibly fast. Streaming a Full HD movie from a USB stick to 5 different devices simultaneously, the router did not experience the slightest lag. Flawless in this aspect. If the plastic quality was slightly better and the range in the 5 GHz band was better, it would definitely be worth 5/5. However, I highly recommend it to those who want it for home use in relatively small-sized (50-60 sqm) houses.
