The new DPS-2 is an extremely linear power supply that not only boasts impressive technical data but also a wide range of unique and useful features. For example, the compact device features two differently filtered outputs. The casing and front panel of the DPS-2 are based on the ADI-2 series, adapting RME's pioneering circuit design to just half rack width.

Two outputs - HF filter and DC on the network side
The Linear output is a traditional DC output but is equipped with passive and active multi-stage filtering that includes a 30,000 μF capacitor array, ferrite chokes, as well as an active output filter with a hybrid voltage regulator.

The second output is based on RME's exclusive μFilter technology. Here, the signal from the pre-filtered Linear output is also processed by high-performance active filters to achieve an ultra-clean DC output with noise of just a few μV (micro-volts). Additionally, the output features sensor technology, which measures and adjusts the output voltage directly at the DC connector of the provided DC cable. Two DC sensor connection cables with lockable & non-lockable DC plug 2.1 x 5.5 mm, (1 m) are included.

As a result, the output impedance and load regulation are extremely low, thus ensuring a clean output voltage of +12.0 V at 2.5 A load, completely avoiding any load-dependent voltage drop. Note: only one output can be used at a time.

Hum-free operation - Optimal performance without interference
The additional use of a 2-stage HF filter and a DC filter on the AC network side allows the DPS-2 to offer optimal performance without interference noise. This is also ensured by the 60 VA toroidal audio transformer with additional isolation winding and magnetic tape shielding, guaranteeing absolute hum and noise-free operation under all circumstances.

If necessary, the GND lift switch can be used to disconnect the DC ground from the PE (protective earth) to eliminate noise caused by ground loops. In this case, safety is not compromised as the primary part and casing remain firmly connected to the power input PE. Additionally, the DPS-2 comes with a screw terminal ground connection for grounding other devices or for using grounding other than PE for audio power.

Status indication via multi-colored front LEDs - AutoDark LED function
The DPS-2 features two status LEDs on the front to provide a quick overview of operating modes and fault conditions (power, thermal and power overload, low voltage, short circuit, active output). A recessed push switch on the front panel allows the unique AutoDark function with the LEDs lighting up only in fault conditions and briefly upon power-up.

Another unique feature is the 24-page manual, which shows the technical data in detail using many measured values, illustrated with measurement diagrams. It also contains information on linear and switching power supplies.
