Corto Maltese returns in a new adventure that places him in Mexico and brings him face to face with his past. Corto Maltese is the eternal dreamer and incurable romantic sailor with a golden earring in his left ear, seeker of adventure and escape from reality, who remains one of the classic and most emblematic figures in comic book art.
The comic is one of the most awarded of all time, with the first album, The Ballad of the Salt Sea, being among the 100 most important books of the 20th Century. Hugo Pratt created 29 unforgettable stories of the hero, which continue to be celebrated by readers around the world. Juan Diaz Canales and Ruben Pellejero have created 4 additional stories of the hero, with "The Line of Life" being the fifth, which have been embraced by a dedicated audience.
The story is set in 1928, with Corto Maltese going to Mexico as a representative of Golden Mouth, to acquire ancient relics from a rather unethical archaeologist. There, he becomes involved in the Cristero rebellion against the anti-clericalists and reunites with two old acquaintances: Rasputin and Banshee, the Irish revolutionary.
Written by Juan Diaz Canales and illustrated by Ruben Pellejero, the story is filled with intrigue and relates to the plundering of archaeological finds. It continues the series of exceptional stories of the most famous sailor in comics.
