The texts that follow were published in the weekly newspaper
ALLAGI of the Imathia prefecture 40-45 years ago. The younger generation will not know about the newspaper, and the older ones might remember it faintly.
The newspaper began its publication in mid-April 1977 with publisher-director Haroula Oulsoutzoglou, who had just finished Journalism School, and main collaborator the late Theodoros Chalatsis, a young lawyer at the time. ALLAGI initially started to express the so-called progressive space, but soon became the journalistic organ of PASOK in the prefecture. A few months later, I joined the "company". Initially, Theodoros and I wrote the column "One on the nail and one on the horseshoe", which he had started with great success. After 1978, we agreed that I would take on the chronicle, which was missing from the newspaper, titled "Imathia and others...".
In 1981, PASOK's electoral triumph came, and in 1982 Theodoros was appointed Prefect of Kozani and left the "company". In 1985, he became General Director of ERT, from which he was dismissed in 1987 because he did not "comply with the directives" of the then prime ministerial environment and the subsequent Mrs. Papandreou. Not only was he dismissed, but he was also relentlessly pursued by former "comrades" until he died in 2004. By general admission, Theodoros Chalatsis was one of the most honest and capable executives of ERT, and this behavior of the party establishment made many of us see things more clearly...
This booklet does not contain all the chronicles I had written. I chose those that I consider to have a timelessness and preferred not to include those written about events that would not interest today's reader, as well as some where I commented on actions or statements of people who are no longer alive.
