The Hoka Challenger ATR 7 is an all-round trail shoe for the neutral runner. It is the seventh edition of Hoka's All Terrain series. The versatile shoes are designed for running on different surfaces, from asphalt to trails, and offer protection from various weather conditions.
What are the updates? This shoe has become lighter while the thickness of the sole has increased. Additionally, the upper is made with more recycled materials but maintains breathability. The lug profile has a new design to provide traction on unpaved trails, but also comfort when walking on asphalt.
The Engineered Mesh upper has a lightweight feel, is made from at least 30% recycled materials, and includes special reinforcements for trail running. The updated heel cover offers great ankle support and ensures easy entry.
The CMEVA midsole has become 2 mm thicker and therefore has more cushioning than its predecessor. This makes walking long distances more comfortable. The Challenger ATR 7 is therefore suitable for running long-distance trails, such as half marathons and full marathons.
The updated outsole pattern has 4 mm lugs that provide good traction when walking on dirt, whether you choose a soft or somewhat harder surface. Durability has also been improved, as more rubber has been added for endless miles. The Hoka Challenger ATR 7 can really handle any surface, so you can train and race anywhere.

very good construction, excellent design and materials, durable shoe - after the first 350km it feels like I bought them yesterday. They have a neutral feel and are very stable, they don’t slip even on wet grass. Reading reviews, I expected a softer, bouncy shoe but it’s not like that, it’s quite hard in the sole and without much return, however very stable, so prefer it if you run on uneven ground - dirt roads or mountains - for tartan or road I think something softer is needed.. it hasn’t bothered my knees or anywhere so far but there are definitely more suitable options for training on a track or road. I’ll come back and attach a photo after 800km, the shoe is in excellent condition with slight wear on the inside of the heel that doesn’t bother me at all. Fully durable.
