Having been a controller owner since the PS2 and onwards, this is the first time I've encountered stick drift. While my DualShock 4s, which I used for 6 years, never had any issues at all, my DualSense developed a problem in just 2 years, resulting in the need to buy another one. My advice is to keep it in a box or in a drawer/cupboard when you're not playing, to avoid collecting dust. Dust often gets inside the joystick mechanism and creates the problem, that's what I was told at a service I consulted. The controller is flawless in terms of functionality, however, it offers an experience you have never felt before. Just be careful, it may give you issues, and be sure to take good care of it.
Unacceptable!!! I have been a supporter of the company since the PS1 came out. I got the PS5 along with two controllers, and both started moving on their own after six months. Unacceptable for the company.
The only thing I liked is that it is a little better than the previous ones with a different design with its lighting. Not something amazing. For the price they are asking, it is excessive. The buttons RI-R2 do not have the same feedback as L1-L2. It's as if there is none at all, resulting in it sticking all the time, very annoying. It's like the old previous PS1 ones and still needs work. The same goes for the joystick; both of them get stuck after a while. Other controllers I have seen are more detailed and better than this one.
Unacceptable, I bought the PS5 along with 2 controllers as a gift, and within a year with minimal use, both developed the issue where the joystick drifts on its own, if I remember correctly, disgraceful!! While I used the Xbox controllers every day, they never broke at all
Very good! I've had it since February 2023 and I use it for the PC.
It hasn't given me any issues at all, I highly recommend it compared to the Xbox.
However, for use on a computer, keep in mind that there are games that support it normally, but there are also some that require an Xbox simulator to work.
Perhaps the most distinctive and stylish color in DualSense! The back is matte gray like the PlayStation 1 and with the glossy silver on the front, it ties together perfectly and feels like it marries the past with the present!
It only gets 3 stars instead of 2 because this one is black instead of Panda-print. Will get stick drift no matter what, forcing you to buy another if you need to play on PS
I bought the Sony Dualsense Astro Bot Limited Edition to perfectly accompany the game Astro Bot that I had been looking forward to.
Honestly, it is one of the best Limited Edition Controllers I have seen both in terms of build quality and paint, as well as feel in the hand.
I am one of those Gamers who really chase collectible Controllers, and this one exceeded all my expectations!
Fortunately, I bought it at the suggested price that SONY released it at, so I didn't fall into Sites that have it at unreasonable and outrageous prices!
I therefore recommend it for purchase 100%. But at the reasonable price that SONY released it at, and not at unreasonable prices that aim to exploit people................
The company, "Sony," wants us to pay something like a subscription every year for the purchase of a new controller. Some people will even pay for it twice a year. Mine lasted exactly 13 months, after which the now-famous drift of the analog stick began. According to instructions from the internet, I reset the controller and the console to fix it, but the problem remained (it's nonsense that the issue could come from the software). The next step was to open the controller (it was out of warranty anyway). With the help of relevant videos from the internet and the little knowledge I have in electronics, the problem was solved, but only for a few days. The last step was to send it to a special PS5 controller repair lab, but just seeing that the most common warranty after the repair is 3 months, I didn't bother. Conclusion: sooner or later, we will all reach into our pockets and buy the famous "DualSense controller with haptic feedback and dynamic trigger effects" again and again (get lost!!!). I, however, have been perfectly fine with the PS4 controller and play all PS4 games on the PS5 console, which is actually not lacking in anything and is by far more durable (I've had it for 5 years and it works perfectly despite the ...random drops). Good continuation!!!
Well, this is the authentic controller, so I don't need to say much, but I wasn't satisfied with the quality; it has dropped a lot... (unless the place where I got it gave me a clone, what can I say) I mean, after two months with almost zero usage (I mainly got it as a controller for the computer), it started to creak...
Also (I don't know if this is a computer issue or if it's the same on the PS5), the vibration is weak; I remember other authentic Sony controllers I had had much stronger vibration...
But compared to other 20-euro or 40-euro ones, it's better because at least the analog sticks (which I still find worse than those, for example, on the PS2) are quite a bit more precise.
By far the best controller on the market in terms of quality-price. But it couldn't be without a negative, bought it in December and with quite a bit of use on PC it recently started to squeak, I didn't expect something like this to happen and so soon, it doesn't make noise when you press buttons, but when I press from underneath with enough pressure it squeaks, if it gets worse I will just buy it again, I will buy another DualSense that breaks until the PS6 comes out, then I will get that one.
Sony please fix your controllers I have bought three of them and the two of them had stick drift which I had to fix by myself am the other man very bad quality of the plastics and the options button on the controller sticks sometimes when I press it. Maybe Sony wants us to bug dual-sense edge controllers which are more durable and if the have stick drift we can replace the stick modules with new ones an not pay full price on a new controller
The review concerns the BDM-020 controller and how it works with PC and Win10/11 natively and with rewasd. The list of supported features per utility and compatible games: www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Controller:DualSense. Unfortunately, the packaging does not indicate what batch the controller and its board are from, except for searching online based on color. Drifting of the left joystick after minimal use. If someone does not return it within the warranty (one year), one solution is to replace it with magnetic "potentiometers" tmr gulikit for dualsense ps5 from Amazon, which are durable with low battery consumption, although the replacement costs quite a bit. Regarding the dualsense edge, apart from the cost, replacement joysticks are nowhere to be found, and its battery is much smaller. Also, the position of the left joystick is in an awkward place compared to the Xbox controller, depending on what games each person plays.
The build quality is terrible. Apart from the fact that stick drift occurs in the first few months, it is not durable. With the slightest hit/fall, something can break (microphone, buttons, or the stick). For 70€ the controller is a joke for the consumer
Sturdy construction at 280g. Fits perfectly in palms like mine (medium-sized). Doesn't strain the tendons of the fingers. R, L buttons are quite soft.
Now, regarding any misunderstandings about the model. This particular one is the V2 with FCC ID expiration → 1B. The 1B is an upgraded version of the 1A and as far as I know, the most recent one. The colored models (all except the white one) are at least V2 with ID 1A.
Purchased during days of Play 2023. I liked the color, but also the texture is very nice, it doesn't slip as much as the white one. Normal use, with plenty of FPS games, has not presented any issues
After almost 2 years of use, my observation is that it may be the worst controller Sony has released. Stick drifting in 6 months and then in a new controller the same after a few months while the stick also broke. I have already used 4 controllers. The controller of the PS4 was more reliable. It does not justify its cost. EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE!! Here the saying "you get what you pay for" does not apply.
I have been using the dualsense controller that came with the Playstation 5 for almost 3 years, and I think I can write my opinion on it!
POSITIVES:
1) It has a very nice build quality compared to the dualshock 4! You don't feel like you're holding plastic in your hands, but something better and sturdy.
2) The buttons, joysticks, touchpad, and triggers have a nice feel to them!
3) I can't overlook the new innovations in vibrations and triggers. They make the gaming experience different in games that support these technologies. You feel the environment (e.g. when stepping on snow or swimming) and the sensation of objects you use (e.g. when shooting with a gun or sniper)!
4) Long battery life! (If you have vibrations enabled, the battery loses a lot of its duration)
NEGATIVES:
1) The dualsense (like other controllers on the market) besides the usage you will make, luck plays a HUGE role in whether the controller will experience DRIFT (and not only). I consider it tragic to pay 70€ (or 50€ if you find it on sale) for controllers and have them break within the first few months. Maybe I was lucky, but from kids I know, within the first 3 months, with not much usage, the controller started to drift. The dualsense that came with my console started to drift recently after about 2.5 years of use. Was I lucky? Did I use it well? I don't have an answer.
CONCLUSION:
As a controller, it is very good! Whether it is worth it depends on the hands of each user. Controllers, like headphones, are purely subjective because we are not all the same. As a user who has worked with it for several years, I am satisfied!
Very good for its price (bought for 57 euros through skroutz). I didn't notice any difference in its handling compared to the Sony DualSense V1, but I will come back regarding the battery life (it is said to have a longer battery life than the V1). However, what I want to emphasize is to pay attention when you buy it, the FCC ID should be AK8CFIZCT1A and not AK8CFIZCT1B, which is the FCC ID of the first dualsense. (It is written on the back of the controller in capital letters). Initially, I ordered the dualsense v2 from another store, but I received dualsense v1 and canceled it since they informed me that they don't have the V2. So, check as soon as you receive the controller. I hope I helped regarding this.
So the controller is the best thing I've ever held in my hands. Until now, it was the Xbox Series one that I use on PC. I have both of them in a photo so you can see that they are roughly the same size. The only thing I don't like is the shape of the handles because if your hand sweats even a little, they slip and come off. The same goes for the joysticks. The Xbox controller has joysticks in a concave shape and a non-slip design around them, while the DS joysticks do not. I have uploaded a photo as well. They have come off several times due to sweat on my fingers. Also, personally, I would prefer it to take removable AA or CR123A batteries for greater capacity. The ones I have in the Xbox controller are 2,300 mAh each and you really forget to recharge them. The DS battery barely lasts a day even if you have the backlight at a low level, while if you have activated functions like adaptive triggers at full intensity, mic, backlight above normal intensity, etc., it drains it. It is very small for its specifications. As for gaming on PC, I would not recommend it. If you want to see its real functions, play on the PS5.
