I have had it for almost two months. I bought it with the idea of maintaining the house mainly by vacuuming on a daily basis as I have a pet dog that sheds quite a bit.
Positives:
- Ability to set multiple programs to cover almost every need.
- Strong suction that collects almost everything that can be picked up with one vacuuming. However, do not expect the performance of a classic vacuum cleaner.
- Automatic emptying, filling of bins, and cleaning of the mop cloth.
- Almost excellent mapping.
- Very good autonomy (for now, as this gradually changes over time). It cleans an 83 sq.m. house in 45 minutes and the battery drops by about 30%.
- It has a container for floor detergent!
- It features a camera with some good utilization functions.
- Quite good carpet cleaning with smart recognition and deep cleaning functions.
Negatives:
- Although it has more sensors than a World Bank safe, it often fails to correctly recognize spaces, resulting in it getting stuck on things like balcony door tracks or stumbling over objects on the floor, either getting stuck or jumping over them. I have had to free it more than a few times in a house with minimal decoration and few obstacles.
- If you have a long-haired pet, be prepared to unclog it several times by flipping it over and disassembling the area with the brushes (fortunately, this is an easy process). You will also need to periodically check the vacuum's bin as the hairs block the exits, preventing proper automatic emptying.
- The mopping is average and sometimes leaves marks.
- The mop cloth often needs to be changed or washed by hand as it smells after a few uses, even though the vacuum cleans it automatically during mopping.
- There is no immediate option to select the emptying of the bin during its operation while it cleans the rooms. For pet owners, it would be convenient to set the bin to empty after completing a room/area or at least every few minutes, as the vacuum surprisingly does for the mop cloth.
Conclusion: For this price, I expected many fewer negatives. I would suggest considering other options, even from the same company, at a lower cost. For those of you who are determined, it won't completely disappoint you, but it will create some complaints. If you have pets, know that you can't just set it and forget it. You will need to intervene many times.
After 2 months, I’m giving it 1 star, maybe even zero normally. It had a problem with the LiDAR (laser in the head). After contacting the company and doing a lot of searching, I found out that it’s a design flaw. And the company doesn’t have an official repair center in Greece. So you are left at the mercy of the selling store.
UPDATE: After returning from service, it had another problem. After cleaning the mop and towards the end of the suction of the water in the bin with the "dirty" water, it showed an error again "Maintenance brush jammed. Clean it and remove blockage." I did all the actions I found on the internet and what the German support of Roborock told me without success. It’s going back to the seller again. (1500€ so far in the trash....)
Powerful vacuum cleaner with many options for vacuuming and mopping. It cleans effectively and the ability to vacuum and mop at the same time has made our lives easier.
It is one of those products that you are happy to see in action. Although it is pricey, it has so many features that it is worth the money! It is equipped with the most modern algorithms and AI. By the second use, it has "learned" your space and has already created the best cleaning routes. The suction power is very satisfactory. It can perform even on thin carpets. The mopping function is also good. Here, I would suggest getting the special cleaner from Roborock so that the floors are not washed with plain water. The battery lasts quite a while depending on usage. For a space of 150-200 sqm, one charge is enough to complete the cleaning routine. Through the app, you can adjust everything and see the status of the vacuum and its components (even when they need cleaning or replacement). It is as self-emptying and self-cleaning as a robotic vacuum could be. It needs to be emptied at the docking station and have its water changed once a month regarding maintenance. Above all, the robot does exactly what the manufacturer promises. I am very satisfied with this purchase and indeed save significant time in my day from cleaning the floors. For anyone who has the opportunity to buy it, I consider it an amazing investment!
We waited 1.5 years for the price of the S8 Ultra Pro to drop, and we finally ended up here. If you exclude the price, which... I’m ashamed to even mention if asked, it has fully met our expectations.
Personally, I believe the key factor that made the difference and since then we have been satisfied is to create a suitable program tailored to the needs of each room. Although the software is user-friendly, it requires some familiarity and a bit of searching to set up a cleaning schedule customized to your needs for each room. Now we are happy with the result when it finishes each time and keeps the house clean.
As for maintenance, it guides you perfectly. With notifications on when to pay attention to a component and the corresponding instructions. Very easy removal and reinstallation of components. The only real involvement is the removal of dirty water and filling new clean water in the two tanks after each mopping. Additionally, the LED lighting of the base helps, turning red from blue when it needs your attention for some reason.
Once in the last 5 months, we only had an issue with a bathroom mat that got stuck on it and a non-stick paper that the air took in the kitchen and carried it around the house. Also, the first time the vacuum bin got clogged, resulting in it not emptying due to too many hairs and a large volume of dust from construction that was unfortunately happening right next to us at that time. In all other cases, it doesn’t bump into furniture much, doesn’t catch curtains, and has avoided cables. It goes under the bed and with maneuvers, it covers even large areas under the table.
The suction intensity is sufficient already at the medium level. I can’t imagine a need to go to a higher level. The noise is loud, mainly when it empties the vacuum bin back into its base.
The difference with the addition of detergent in mopping was significant compared to plain water. We bought about €25-30 of suitable detergent from the company and saw a significant difference. The consumption of detergent is very low (we are already in the 4th month with 2 moppings of 120 sq.m. per week). Difficult stains, like dried sauce, cannot be easily removed, and it’s more effort to make it try with spot cleaning than to do it yourself (yes, we tried it).
The cleaning is... professional - meaning it doesn’t reach the corners. Also, we have never seen the arm with the separate cloth extend to cover corners.
It has solved our hands regarding the maintenance of clean spaces.
