I have installed a total of 4 identical cameras so far. They haven't troubled me at all compared to any brand I have tried. As long as they maintain a high value for money ratio, I will prefer them and recommend them to everyone.
The only downside is the sound quality, which is terrible in certain conditions.
I never leave reviews... but here there is a serious downgrade from TP Link... I have the C210 and C220 side by side in the same frame with full qualities/frames... the C220 is significantly worse (colors, clarity, brightness, and no change in wide/depth)... the newer one is a waste of money... I was looking to see if it had any protective film to peel off... some reviews for a better image are definitely fake
WARNING! Do not buy this camera with the intention of using it as a Baby monitor, every 5 minutes it throws a message when you are watching asking if you want to continue watching!?!?! Unacceptable, I have sent an email to tp link to get my money back!
It does its job quite decently. Sometimes it might confuse animals with people and send the wrong notification. I have experienced it getting confused with barking and sending a notification for a broken window. These are rare in general, and it's AI detection, so I believe there will be improvements in the future.
Very good camera, connects very easily and has very good clarity. It always sends a notification as soon as it detects movement. I find it convenient that it has preset viewing positions so I don't have to move it around constantly and can see each area manually.
Excellent camera with good resolution, quality, and colors. It has a fairly wide-angle lens and is satisfactory for both small and large spaces. In the dark, the image remains good. It accepts an SD card up to 512GB. For its price, it gets an EXCELLENT rating from me. With the first setup, it gives you a free 30-day connection to TP-LINK's cloud. The TAPO app from TP-LINK is exceptional, with many useful features and very easy to use. If someone wants to relax and get rid of problems with connections, disconnections, malfunctions, difficulty in use, etc., at a reasonable and acceptable cost, the solution for a TP-LINK camera is a no-brainer. If they don't want to, then they can buy and experiment (as I did) with so many other second-rate cameras that connect to some apps with strange Chinese names (and then they deal with and waste time trying to fix the mess). I replaced all the cameras and switches with TP-LINK products and found peace of mind. TP-LINK has a wide range of available quality smart devices to manage them all from ONE and ONLY app. Great convenience. So far, all devices work flawlessly. As the advertisement says, "it lets you focus on your tasks and not on the cameras."
I have also purchased and use the Tp-Link Tapo C210, which is also a very good camera with a wide-angle lens. Comparing the two, the 220 has a clearer image (regarding the negative comment posted by some user below, the camera is probably defective and should be returned). The functions on both are the same. If you want it for a small space, then the 210 is just fine. If you want it for a larger space, then prefer the 220. Both are EXCELLENT.
Very good camera for its price ~40 € approximately, very good resolution and very good tapo application that accompanies it on the mobile, seems a bit more user-friendly than the previous tp link C210 that I have bought for relatives, but still it is a very good choice for this money.
I never leave reviews... but here there is a serious downgrade from tp link... I have the c210 and c220 side by side on the same plane with full quality/frames... the 220 is significantly worse (colors, clarity, brightness, and no change in wide/depth)... the newer one is a waste of money... I was looking to see if it had a protective film to remove... some reviews claiming better image quality are definitely fake
After one month, it does not display any image.
No matter how many times you reset it and uninstall and reinstall it, it will only display the first time you connect it, and then it freezes.
I will update the firmware again and then throw it away. I won't deal with it anymore and I won't buy this brand again.
The camera is quite good for its price. The accompanying application is user-friendly, it sends correct notifications most of the time, and generally, with a good network, it does not have serious communication problems. Unfortunately, its night vision in a large yard is not the best. The infrared it emits is not sufficient for the image. Indoors, things might be better. Finally, in a place with good protection from rain, it can stand comfortably.
This camera c220 is much better than the c200 and the c210 that I already have. It has many capabilities, better image quality, better in everything. At the price of 32.90, it's really a bargain. It's the 4th camera I've bought from Tapo and now I have the whole house covered inside and outside, along with the c310. You take a look at your phone and you can see all 4 cameras simultaneously and have a complete picture
It is mandatory for products sold in Greece to have instructions in Greek. There are no instructions in either the packaging or the website. Disappointing
Owner of 6 TAPO cameras, this one is the best for indoor use, it rotates and has night monitoring that literally makes it day. The recording quality is impeccable with very high resolution and plenty of functions. Those of you who are animal lovers will adore it, as it has many functions for pets. I have nothing more to say, it is the best for indoor spaces. I also have a Xiaomi camera, which is a disappointment, not so much the camera but the application with many restrictions unless you pay a subscription, while in the
5 out of 5 from me. Much better than a similar Xiaomi I have. I had changed that one because I wasn't receiving notifications. With this one everything is excellent and it detects motion every time. It upgraded when I connected it and it has not disconnected even once in three months. Also, very convenient that it rotates through the app. If I were to change something, however, I would change its plastic. It is relatively low quality in touch and I would prefer something more sturdy.
2K and 4MP, the worst in image quality. I had a Xiaomi 1080 HD and it had better image quality. I do not recommend it for any reason. I have an external Tapo FHD camera, which is excellent, and I bought this FHD+ camera, but the image does not have as many colors. It's like I bought a camera from eBay. I returned it and will go for the C225 V2 if I see that I will not go back to Xiaomi inside out.
It's excellent! The fact that I can rotate it through my mobile and see what's happening around solves my hands. Anyone who hesitates between a baby monitor or this camera, should choose this one without hesitation. Monitors are a waste of money. With the application, even if you are watching something else on your mobile, it shows you an icon that there was movement in the room, so you don't need to be constantly on the screen. The only thing I would change is the alarm function, it should send a notification to the mobile instead of the camera device. If anything changes, I will come back with an update.
7/6/2024 UPDATE:
After several tickets to tp link support and two firmware updates, for the past two months there hasn't been the slightest disconnection issue.
Other than that, the camera is worth it, perfect image quality. I'm not giving it 5 stars because of the inability to mount it on a wall (it can be mounted on the ceiling but it doesn't work for me).
UNACCEPTABLE! In the same room as the router, not even 3 meters away without any obstacles between them, and it constantly disconnects, either with a green or orange LED. It doesn't reconnect even if you restart the router, only with an unplug/plug from the power. Money wasted, what's the point of having a camera to monitor your house if it's offline with no way to restore it. A C500 outdoor camera that I have on the balcony never has any issues, never disconnects. A random brand camera that I had before this one, in another room further away from the router, never went offline for 3.5 years!
TP Link support is non-existent so far.
Also, they advertise it as mountable on a wall but it doesn't work, the image is rotated 90 degrees. The only mounting option is from the ceiling where you can choose to flip it 180 degrees but you lose image quality.
I believe it is the top camera in this price range. Easy to use, excellent image quality day and night. The application is amazing and the customization and adjustment capabilities are unique. If you also proceed to purchase smart bulbs or other devices from the same company, the TP LINK ecosystem is excellent.
As the owner of the previous models (c200, c210), I see the change for the better always from model to model. Very good and high-quality image, it takes a 512gb memory card and honestly very easy installation and use through the application. It's worth its money!
I had the equivalent Xiaomi and decided to try this one because it has a round plug and not USB (which broke after a while) and because it seemed a bit more sturdy.
Indeed, it is better in these aspects, with a power supply included in the package, a stronger base, slightly larger than the Xiaomi, and with a slightly smaller lens range.
Also, a slightly cheaper cloud service than Xiaomi's.
Xiaomi's app might be slightly nicer, but there is no significant difference.
In its category, it is the best.
Very good image quality and many smart functions. Keep in mind that you will need either a subscription or a microSD card for video recording. 16GB records almost a day at 15fps with a resolution of 2560*1440 (it does not support other resolutions apart from 2560*1440 and 360). Of course, I don't know how long the microSD card will last if you do continuous video recording.
The use of the Tapo application is not mandatory to view the camera feed since it uses RTSP (and ONVIF), but you will need to explore it a bit more. After setting up a username and password on the camera using the Tapo application, you can view the feed from a PC with Linux, for example, with:
> ffplay rtsp://:@:554/stream1 or stream2
After 2 months of use, there was one instance when we were using it as a baby monitor and it didn't show us live feed but showed a few minutes behind, so be careful when using it for such applications. You can, of course, tell from the time displayed in the upper left corner.
