Description
To Metaxa Private Reserve is a Greek brandy made from aged Muscat wines with carefully selected characteristics to offer a top-notch result. It has been produced every year since 1992, and during its creation period, distillates that are at their absolute peak are chosen.
Metaxa Private Reserve stands out for its intense amber color.
Initially, aromas of dried apricot, plum, and honey reach the nose. Notes of citrus, chocolate, coffee, and sweet spices are gradually revealed.
Its complex taste is warm and intense with notes of black raisins, caramel, and a blend of peppers.
The long finish offers flavors of dried fruits and sweet spices.

Did you find this review helpful?I am a lover of cognac and rum and have tried countless aged varieties of both with many orders from abroad. There are two versions; the old one was aged for 30 years while the new one is a solera type aged 30 years. Nevertheless, the new one is a bit "better-pleasant." Although sweeter, the fruits (apricot predominates), the sweetness, the spices, and the barrel are all in a flawless velvety balance and with a surprisingly more intense aroma! While the old one, although more "gifted," one might say due to its greater age, loses a bit in the element of "unexpected surprise" compared to the new version because as a drink it is excellent and worth every penny. The old one leaves a slight bitterness at the end and lacks the element of apricot and velvety texture. Also, in the old one, from bottle to bottle, there are small differences; some were a bit better (probably due to the more difficult bottling). So they may have slightly reduced the quality in the new version, but they improved the techniques.

Metaxa is not made from wheat (whiskey-vodka), it is not made from herbs (gin), it is not made from sugarcane (rum), it is not made from agave (tequila).
Metaxa is made from a blend of aged wines from select grape varieties, which are combined with exceptionally sweet Muscat wines from Lemnos and Samos, and then flavored with a secret blend of herbs.
The taste and aftertaste it leaves you with are incredible.
Even the highest quality and most expensive whiskies pale in comparison.
They are even better than "good" French cognacs (Hennessy, Courvoisier).
Do you want something affordable with a strong flavor? Get the 3-star.
Do you want something with a soft flavor of fruits, flowers, and vanilla? Choose the 5-star.
Do you want something like the 5-star, but with a more "sophisticated" flavor and a longer aftertaste? Try the 7-star.
Do you like the taste of coffee, smoky wood (not me), and dried fruits? You're in for the 12-star.
