The TP-LINK single socket features a switch so you can turn it off without unplugging it. It can connect to a Wi-Fi network so you can control it through a smart ecosystem.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
Overall, it is a device that works as it should.
I have created an application:
http://alexander.agathos.net.gr/tapo.html
It allows you to see in real time the power you consume in all your Tapo sockets from your computer.
I have also installed a Geti power meter and they show approximately the same readings with a difference of +/- 3 Watts. So it is an accurate and affordable product.
When it's working, it's a very good product, statistics, connection with Google, everything.
The issue is that in 2 sockets, the on/off has broken. Even when the socket is closed, either from the switch or from the application, it still draws power normally. There are many reports about this on the TP-Link website.
You want a socket to be reliable and unfortunately, this one doesn't seem to be.
They have been very convenient for me, besides the fact that you can schedule when they will work, they also measure the consumption so you can roughly calculate the daily/monthly consumption!
Very good choice for measuring power consumption and getting an idea of how much electricity your devices actually use (computer, air conditioner, television, up to 3.5kW). It also obviously allows remote control of the switch through the tapo app.
Just what I needed, they fit perfectly for the Christmas lights, I had programmed them for opening and closing! Overall, they have made my life easier. As for its durability, I already have one in a shop for about 8 months where I have placed a Scotsman ice machine on it, it holds it without overheating, and that was also the reason I preferred it for the lights in the house
It does its job as it should quickly and efficiently, generally all these devices require you to disable the 5GHz band from the router's Wi-Fi to connect to the socket. You activate it again once it's connected and everything works perfectly.
Good plug. It was a bit difficult for me to connect, but fortunately it connected. Prefer the Wi-Fi connectivity. VFM!
Very practical accessory. Relatively accurate measurements and perfect remote control from the mobile for various devices in the house with many options through its app!
Great. If you catch it on sale, even better. They do their job without issues. They connect easily to the phone and the app is quite well-made.
They also work perfectly with Home Assistant. From what I understand, you need to connect them to the phone first for the initialization (or something like that), but after that, they work locally, so the response to commands is quick.
Simple, functional, with consumption measurement. Many settings and automations in the menu that you can imagine. It really is worth it
Very good, especially considering its low cost for its type. It does everything and is worth it! However, if combined with a smart hub or other smart devices from the company, its usefulness skyrockets.
I have bought three of these and they work just fine. Besides the remote control, the real-time measurement of consumption is also very good.
I got it to turn on the outdoor lights from my phone with the app for Christmas, so I wanted to, but I ended up having them on an automatic schedule and now I don't even go outside in the cold to turn the lights on and off. I don't do anything from my phone anymore either; the nice thing about it is the live consumption and generally how it has been and is in watts and the kilowatt-hours it has consumed.
just brilliant it says smart plug will highly recommend it to anyone...
Excellent choice. Now I can remotely control the device I want. I installed it in the room to turn on the heater before I get home.
It truly deserves every cent of the euro, it connected immediately without issues to the tapo app, I also control it from Google home with voice commands from Mom's Google speaker.
Guys, I don't know what's going on with the reviews, but the plugs never worked for me, unlike the cameras from the same company. They connect and then after a day they're offline. Every day for a month I've been putting them in and they go offline after half a day. The worst thing I've ever bought, and I had high hopes for the TP-Link
One star because there is no 0. It does not work for measuring consumption, even though I upgraded the software. It only does start and pause. Stay away.
I have been using them for about 2 months to record the consumption of various devices (TV, computer, washing machine, refrigerator) through custom integration in Home Assistant. They haven't had any issues and their measurements are on par with other devices that measure consumption. One downside is that they require internet (communication with the tp-link cloud) to provide measurements, so if someone wants to cut off their internet for security reasons, it's not that simple.
I have two of these.
As long as they work properly, they are excellent, hence the many good reviews here.
However, the bad news comes over time after use.
So, within 1 year, the on/off switch broke: It doesn't turn off, neither from the app nor if you press the button on it.
The exact same thing happened to the second one in the 2nd year.
Searching the internet about this issue, I found out that it is known and many people are facing it, so it is clearly a matter of poor build quality and reliability.
Therefore, anyone who wants to set a program on/off should avoid it because sooner or later it will break and they will have to buy another one.
The others who just want to browse the app for consumption can buy it without worry.
As a friend mentioned below, when it works, it is very good. Unfortunately, I will confirm that the on-off function breaks. That is, it passes current continuously whether it is on or off. I have 2 devices and both have broken twice, and I go and make replacements. The only positive is that it has a 3-year warranty. Now, as a device, it is really very good. It measures the current and turns devices on and off, either with a program or manually. This way, you have complete control over your devices. It is very helpful that you can also control it with your voice via your mobile phone. A very good device as long as it doesn't break down on me again.
Awesome little plug.
It does exactly what it says.
I have bought 6, didn't encounter any problem.
Buy without fear.
I got it for the air conditioner, to see how much it burns. And if I burn it correctly and I don't have it on low and it burns the air conditioner for free with the same results and more kilowatts.
Awesome machine for what it is intended for.
At 28 that I burn it, my old 9000 btu air conditioner burned 600 watts per hour because it reaches temperature. As consumption, the air conditioner burns 800 watts per hour. Very good
Simple and does what it promises. The mobile app also is nice and gives you power consumption history which is great!
Very useful, especially for seeing your usage in a socket, but also for forgetful people, to close sockets while you are away from home and you don't remember if you left something open!
So far, it's been great, connected easily and I haven't seen it lose connection. The app doesn't have anything great in settings, for example, I would like it to have some alert when I'm away from home and forget to turn off a device but I haven't found anything like that so far.
It does what it promises. It has been working for 6 months in an area with objectively poor WiFi coverage and has not experienced any disconnections. The routines are also executed systematically.
Very good. Connected directly to home assistant with TP-Link Tapo integration and works perfectly.
I have 3 and other products from the company.
It suits me very well for what I bought it for.
I don't have anything else to say, as the previous ones have already said it
It connects directly, has multiple measurements, and you input your kilowatt-hour rate and it shows you in euros how much you will pay based on the consumption of the devices you have connected!
