Former owner of Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Garmin Epix pro, I wanted to switch.
On the Apple Watch, the battery bothered me, while on the Garmin, the app did. Is it possible for such adventure watches to need the internet to sync with your phone?
The Suunto is the most value-for-money sports watch I have tried.
Incredible build quality, excellent display, good app.
Having gone through budget watches, I decided to invest some money in a good watch to accompany me during my workouts! I was torn between Garmin and Suunto, and after researching several comments and references regarding damages and after-sale service, build quality, etc. on forums, running groups, etc., I noticed that Garmin did not give me the confidence that Suunto did.
So, after my first run and easily organizing my future workouts, with a very good and easy menu, I have to say that the race is an amazing exercise tool!!! It is lightweight, comfortable, even though it weighs 49 grams, it sits nicely on the hand, with excellent build quality and materials! I was thrilled!! Its menu is fast, and the GPS connection is almost instant (I was in an open area).
I didn't buy it to receive notifications and all the features of a smartwatch, but for what it would offer as a training tool!
I will come back in the future for more information.
A real gem in your hands - incredibly elegant and beautiful, you can wear it tirelessly for 24 hours... A screen that rewards you in all weather conditions with incredibly clear features... Many profiles with accurate GPS distance and altitude... Battery is quite good for an AMOLED screen and relatively lightweight watch... Let's move on to the negatives, the heart rate monitor is very poor at high levels (although it seems they fixed it in the last week)... I find it hard to believe yet... In the profile fields, it is prohibitive for Suunto to use more things or to edit more than 3 favorites... The strap is bad (although it can be changed) and your problems will be solved... The removal of Moovescound for computers is a very bad choice... For now, satisfied (since it was fixed - unbelievable) with the heart rate monitor.
And suddenly Suunto woke up, the once mighty company that hadn't produced a competitive product in years, but I think that ends here! The watch is visually stunning, like almost all Suunto watches in recent years, but that's just the beginning. As an athlete (runner, hiker, cyclist, swimmer), I've had almost all the watches from various brands and have tested them in races and training (bought used through ads: Coros Vertix 2, Suunto 9 Peak, Garmin Fenix 6 Pro Solar). This watch was a pleasant surprise! With a fantastic display, a very good menu, and the best accuracy I've ever experienced (fantastic and accurate altimeter), the battery life is out of this world, with a multiband GPS lasting 45 hours!!! (compared to the Epix Pro's 30 hours for €1000). For me, something very important is the weight, 69g (titanium version), it feels like you're not wearing a watch (heavy watches are a problem, and since we need good battery life, we end up with 90+ grams). Now, onto the negatives, which are relative (depending on your requirements). The lag in the menu is one, but the watch is a sphere when it comes to loading maps quickly and you don't have to wait (it's all about flow, you save battery). The second drawback is the heart rate measurements, they're not good during high-intensity workouts (there's no wrist-based heart rate monitor that's perfect for such workouts). Another important aspect to consider is the price, the titanium and sapphire version is unbeatable in terms of value for money! One more downside for me is that it doesn't have training programs in the app!!! As of the new update on 6/4/2024, the battery life for multiband GPS has improved (it took 18 hours to use up 27% of the battery with the route map loaded)
