Although I don't like puzzles in games, with enough help at many points I managed to get through. This one kept me engaged until its shocking end, and I didn't want to put it down for anything. It's incredibly well-made, the story has so much mystery, and the characters have depth, while in the end, everything is turned upside down and it conveys messages.
First of all, I should say that I haven't played Silent Hill 2 from back then, so I can't give you an opinion on nostalgia and comparison with that time. I will judge it as a new game that I played, and I have to say that it is a masterpiece. The plot and the touch of perfection are captivating, and you never get bored (if you are a fan of story games). The atmosphere and the world of the game from the very first minute are unwelcoming, and you feel discomfort. In terms of technical aspects, although it is beautiful, I don't think it brings anything revolutionary to the graphics, like, for example, Alan Wake 2 or even PS4 games like The Last of Us, etc. I also believe that the developers could have done better optimization and are simply relying on the AI technologies of expensive graphics cards for upscaling to higher resolutions. For this reason, I thought about giving the game 4 stars, but I don't believe it deserves to lose a star for that. We hope the developers work harder on this demanding graphics engine and that we see what the PS5 promised us (native 4K in quality mode and locked 60 fps in performance mode; to see both together in today's games is out of the question)
The feelings of nostalgia that this game evokes for those of us who have played the original are indescribable; for those who have not played any game in the series, it is a very good reason to start playing such games. It is worth every last euro I spent on it. Great graphics, an amazing environment, and a well-crafted game overall; it far exceeded my expectations for this one.
The game is a masterpiece, from the sound, the graphics, the gameplay, story, and the voice acting! True and faithful to the original with the freshness of the new generation. My only complaint is that I felt some locations were stretched in size and time more than they should have been, but the game is simply a masterpiece with wonderful puzzles.
A big congratulations to Konami for this particular game series, but an even bigger Bravo to Blooper team, which is a small company and created a huge remake. I can say that at first, from the first trailers, I didn't like the game at all, but the outcome was fantastic. Silent Hill 2 is an excellent remake that retains the essence of the original game, expanding it in all the right ways without distorting the spirit of the original. While it is easily the best game ever made by Bloober, and perhaps the most terrifying, the simplistic combat is the only thing holding this horror epic back from being absolute and flawless. Regardless, the Silent Hill 2 remake has everything you could want and more, and we hope it is a sign of great things to come for the series. It is a clever and imaginative expansion of the Original that you didn't know you needed...... until now. Five stars are a no-brainer!
How much difference can a remake have from the original from 2001?
The answer is a lot. A human brain cannot easily perceive the meanings and the depth behind this game and how this scenario written by Team Silent over 20 years ago has a beginning, middle, and end. I won't talk about music, voiceovers, atmosphere which are at least at a top level.
I will keep this game as the best memory and experience I have had during these years I have been involved with games.
The horror has returned after several years with a true gem of the silent hill video game series!! Truly a worthy version of the original and worth dedicating time to. It's like playing a new game, especially if you haven't played the original in a while. Bloober has done an excellent job in the visual aspect, sound, music, and performance. For those who have never played silent hill 2 or silent hill in general, they will understand what a real horror game means!! Incredible atmosphere, music, puzzles, gameplay... As for the game's performance, it is recommended to play in performance mode on the Ps5 for the best experience. Almost consistently at 60 frames with some occasional drops, but it doesn't affect the overall gaming experience. After many years, you truly feel the vibes of a modern era Silent Hill!!
What can I say now that I have played all the original Silent Hill games... on PS1... PS2... and PS3... for this masterpiece remake...!!!! I will steal a phrase from the summary of Skroutz...!!!! Psychological horror for seminars...!!!! A game with such atmosphere... simply does not exist...!!!! And of course, we must give a lot of congratulations to Bloober Team...!!!!
Game changer!! I dare say it's better than the original. You really understand the story. They have intervened in the script just enough to make it easier to understand. The voice acting and the expressions of the characters in the game immerse you in the essence of the plot, something that with the original you had to play several times to grasp.
After a while, this wonderful horror game has come back in a remake. When the sold-out issue is resolved and it regains a normal price, I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. Even if you have played the old one, it is definitely worth playing again because there is only an upgrade of the game at all levels. Whether it's sound, gameplay, or atmosphere. Amazing graphics in Unreal Engine 5, excellent voice acting, storytelling is fantastic, sound is perfect, highly recommended with headphones, claustrophobic, scary and dark, difficult puzzles at some points require a lot of thought, always for an average genius gamer, a great game, one of the milestones in the gaming industry, played on PS5, runs flawlessly, at some points you might see some frame drops but they don't affect the experience, old gamers know the franchise, let the new ones learn it too. Kudos to the Bloomer team for delivering a perfect remake that respects the title and is also longer in duration than the original. Buy it immediately without a second thought.
It is faithful to the original game with extra touches that bring the game beautifully into the present. The graphics are very nice but not perfect; you will notice as you play that some textures and reflections in certain areas are lacking and need improvement. The atmosphere, on the other hand, is on another level, honoring the name of the series to the fullest! The music has been orchestrated, and the final result is nice. The gameplay is quite good but not something extraordinary. Overall, we are talking about an excellent package that is worth engaging with and will give you nice moments even if you have exhausted the original. Incredible, it's worth every euro. I have played Silent Hill from 1 to 4 and Homecoming at the same levels as the Resident Evil remakes, but Silent Hill 2 does its own thing again just like it did in the past. The game is chilling!
This is clearly one of the best remakes of all time! Along with the RE2 & RE4 remake. The definition of the epitome of shoulder survival horror. It remains 100% faithful to the original while adding extra material and touches, without distorting the original epic. In the technical aspect, it is flawless. It has been crafted with passion, and it shows from the first minutes. Beautiful graphics, its acoustics are hauntingly perfect! I recommend playing it with good headphones; otherwise, switch the sound mode to "theater." It translates the vibe of despair and psychological horror into your skin. A visual and auditory feast! Now, in terms of gameplay, it is quite balanced without making it easy for you, as the character is not a trained fighter, thus maintaining a sense of realism. Those who have played the original are advised to play on hard this time. As for the story, I won’t spoil it, but it is a tale with very deep meaning and parallels. The only thing I personally consider negative is the models of Angela and Maria, which are very poor compared to the rest of the game, as well as the voice acting of these characters. It is a MUST for survival horror lovers, especially for us fans of the beloved Silent Hill!

I am one of the lucky/unlucky ones who didn't play it in its time and haven't been spoiled either. Wonderful in every aspect, a proper remake in the style of RE 2. I wish they would release the other Silent Hill games because there are many people who haven't played the best horror series of all time.
Silent Hill 2 and Resident Evil 4 are the two best remakes I have ever played. It doesn't matter if you played the original or not, just get it with your eyes closed. The atmosphere that this game has is something you won't find anywhere else, it's simply unique.
