The brand-new 14th generation Intel® Core™ processors (Raptor Lake-S Refresh) are based on Intel's hybrid architecture "Performance Hybrid Architecture" that we first encountered with the "Alder Lake-S and Raptor Lake-S" processors, optimizing performance in gaming and productivity and content creation applications.

Manufactured with the Intel7 process, the 14th generation Intel® Core™ processors continue to leverage the company's innovative hybrid architecture that places two different families of cores in one processor (P-cores and E-cores, for high performance and high energy efficiency respectively) so that all your streaming, productivity, and content creation or editing applications, and of course your favorite games, run smoothly and at high speed. With the 14th generation, the Intel® Core™ processors (Raptor Lake-S Refresh) are available in models with up to 24 cores and up to 32 threads, with boosted operating frequencies reaching up to 6.0GHz, as well as increased Intel® Smart Cache (L3) and L2 Cache sizes.

Comparison with the Previous Generation

The Raptor Lake (14th Gen) provides support for Thunderbolt 4 and Intel Wi-Fi 7 (5 Gig), compared to the Raptor Lake (13th Gen) with Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6/6E.

Intel's hybrid architecture is designed to leverage the most advanced technologies at the platform level, such as DDR5 memory type and PCIe Gen.5 standard. Thus, the specialized and integrated controllers in the processor offer support for DDR5 memory speeds up to 5,600MT/s and the PCIe Gen.5 standard (a total of 16x lanes PCIe 5.0 and 4x lanes PCIe 4.0 are supported).

With the highest operating frequencies in the market (up to 6.0GHz) and Intel®'s innovative hybrid architecture, where high-performance cores (P-cores or Performance cores) coexist with high-energy efficiency cores (E-cores or Efficient-cores), the 14th generation Intel® Core™ processors increase and optimize performance in both gaming and productivity and content creation applications. The 14th generation of Intel® Core™ processors (Raptor Lake-S Refresh) is available in models with up to 24 cores and up to 32 threads and in boosted operating frequencies reaching up to 6.0GHz, as well as with increased Intel® Smart Cache (L3) and L2 Cache sizes.

The brand-new high-performance Intel® Core™ i5-14500 is manufactured using the Intel7 process and is based on an innovative hybrid architecture that includes two clusters from different core families, one cluster with P (Performance) cores and one with E (Efficiency) cores. In total, it incorporates 14x cores (6x Performance cores and 8x Efficient cores) and 20x threads, demonstrating operating frequencies of 2.6 GHz (P-core) and 1.8GHz (E-core) up to 5.0GHz (P-core) and 3.7GHz (E-core). The Intel® Core™ i5-14500 integrates 24MB Intel® Smart Cache and 11.5MB Total L2 Cache, Intel® UHD Graphics 770 (Xe architecture), while its power consumption (Processor Base Power) is rated at 65W.

High performance or energy efficiency?

The new 14th generation Intel® Core processors are based on Intel's innovative "Performance Hybrid Architecture." They incorporate two clusters of cores, the high-performance P (Performance) cores and the low-power or more energy-efficient E (Efficiency) cores. The former are designed for high performance in single-threaded or lightly multi-threaded applications (games, productivity applications, etc.). The latter are optimized for multi-threaded applications, minimizing interruptions from secondary processes. The revolutionary Intel® Thread Director manages and prioritizes workloads (directing threads to the most suitable core for the job).

    One of the most value-for-money processors, this one and its predecessor the 13500, I had the 13400 where I saw it on a good offer and grabbed it, very good temperatures slightly higher than the 13400, I have it on the "Deepcool AK400 Zero Dark Plus" cooler, slightly better in games by about 10 fps max in most games, but in applications, informational systems, recording and file transfer it is faster than the 13400 there is a difference in performance of 15-25%, for its price and if you have an Intel motherboard, get it with closed eyes.
