After years, I am trying a phone of this type again, and yes, you feel that it is not outdated. It seems satisfactorily fast, appears durable, and has a battery that definitely satisfies, along with a quite good camera for its category.

Except for its high price, I think it is the only rugged phone that has all the necessary features someone might need. It has wireless charging, NFC, is durable (this is always relative, all phones break under the right conditions), has a fast processor and enough RAM to remain relatively fast for the next 4-5 years, a real barometer, a thermal camera, and a jack for headphones/speakers!

So let me move on to the negatives for anyone interested in this specific one, although I am sure that the same applies to the cheaper version without the thermal camera:

The battery, at least in mine, is NOT 9600mAh but measured separately with a meter on the charging cable and the "accuBattery" app for Android, around 8620mAh. No surprise here as all manufacturers lie and exaggerate to sell phones. The barometer freezes and stops taking measurements at regular intervals, I have no idea why yet, I have tried third-party apps as well as Ulefone's own app and many times it doesn't work. The fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button often takes time or doesn't work at all; one in five times you first have to press the power button, the screen has to turn on (on the lock screen, of course), and then touch the power button again for it to read the fingerprint and unlock the phone.

I hope no one expects that the camera is actually 108MP! This is a marketing trick by manufacturers where cameras use AI to create a fake image with a much higher resolution than the actual resolution of the camera and thus claim to have a 108MP camera while in reality, the actual resolution does not exceed 12-18MP! The same thing happens not only with this phone but also with 99% of all other phones that claim such a thing; there is no greater scam than the "AI" label next to a phone camera. (I deduct 1% in case some manufacturer actually managed to integrate a phone onto a full-frame DSLR and I haven't learned about it yet).

Most importantly, it is NOT waterproof! Basically, no rugged phone on the market with such features is truly waterproof as they all rely on rubber flaps to keep water out of the phone, which means that in 1-2 years the rubber flap will start to deteriorate and wear out and will not fit as well as it did on the first day, thus the phone will no longer be waterproof! And for anyone who finds the above excessive, my previous phone is the Blackview 9500 with a 9200mAh battery (Blackview had "baptized" it 10000mAh) and an open headphone and USB-C jack, WITHOUT rubber flaps, as the waterproofing is done inside the body of the phone itself! And for anyone wondering, it was purchased in 2018 and this March I even put it in a dishwasher to make sure that the plastic spraying water was turning, and the waterproofing was just fine! I don't think I will even place the Ulefone next to a glass of water, as besides the wear on the plastic caps over time, there is also the small chance that one, for example, may not have closed properly and water could get in anyway.

In other useful information that someone might want to know:
The battery lasts about 3-4 days with normal use, the flash is strong, but as a flashlight, it is average to strong; it will comfortably light up at night, but since it has 6 LEDs, don't expect anything blinding, obviously the 6 LEDs that Ulefone installed are not the brightest available.
The speaker is also not the loudest or clearest on the market; don't expect to be impressed, it does its job and that's it. I would comment that all waterproof speakers don't win any quality awards, but the speaker of Blackview is clearly more pleasant regarding sound quality.
Also, it is positioned incorrectly; if you hold the phone with your right hand and your little finger is at the bottom of the phone, then 99% of the time it will block the speaker output (it is located to the right of the USB port), annoying yes, but after the first 5-10 days, one gets used to it.
The screen has excessively good resolution and colors; it is one of the best I have seen on a phone, until I go outside in the sun and remember that we are talking about a Chinese phone, so I come back to reality and try to find some shade to see the screen without effort.
Without exaggeration, it is one of the worst and least bright screens I expected to see on a phone at this price, and once again I will compare it to Blackview, which was also a dud, but in this regard, it was a significantly better dud than Ulefone!
In terms of speed, it is excellent; it came with Android 13 and the latest security update if I remember correctly in February 2024, it doesn't lag anywhere, apps open instantly, it is fast in operation and response, it might be the fastest I have seen so far on a phone.
Whatever Ulefone claims, the RAM is 12GB. End of story.
The claim that it has 24GB is false and misleading and refers to the ability to allocate 12GB from the internal storage space (which is 512GB) to be used as "virtual" RAM, so you will have 12+12=24GB RAM.
DO NOT do this on any phone!
RAM constantly writes/reads/deletes data very quickly; real RAM is designed to do this reliably and much, much faster than any internal disk, ROM memory, or SD card.
Internal disks or memories intended for permanent storage are NOT designed for this kind of use, and besides being excessively slower in operation, their lifespan is measured in read/write cycles, e.g., 5000 data writes. Therefore, if used as virtual RAM, their reliability and lifespan will decrease once they reach, for example, 5000 writes/deletes in a much shorter time than they would if we simply used them as regular storage space. So don't fall into the marketing trap and stick with the phone that has 12GB of real RAM, which is more than enough for 99% of users.
The SIM slot has space for two SIMs or one SIM and one SD memory card.
The box contains a strap to hang it on your wrist (I think the English term is lanyard strap) and a glass protector for the screen.
It is excessively large and heavy, and I say this as someone who for years had a "clunky" rugged waterproof phone with a 10000mAh battery that weighs 370g!
The Ulefone is indeed a brick, it doesn't fit in most pockets, almost no car mount can handle it, and with a weight of around 430g, close to half a kilo, it is indeed annoying to carry in a pocket while due to its size it is also difficult to hold securely with one hand and operate from one edge of the screen to the other (the Chinese knew something when they included the strap in the package!)
The thermal camera is exactly what it says and works just as one would expect; aside from playing around with it in the first few days, it has proven to be extremely useful almost on a daily basis, the accuracy and sensitivity are excellent and it will definitely make up the 100+ euros price difference compared to the "simple" version in the future (although to be fair, the simple version Power Armor 18 without the thermal camera is not 5G and has a slower processor!).
The charger is 66W (!!) and charges the battery to 100% in less than two hours.
If I remember correctly, it takes about 30 minutes to fill 50%.
After 80%, for obvious reasons, it doesn't charge as quickly.
During charging at 66W, the battery temperature reaches 53C, a sign that the battery probably won't last three years if it continues like this, so if you want to keep it with the same battery for years, I would advise charging it with a slower charger or even better, buy a wireless charger to prevent the battery from overheating (extra bonus: with the wireless charger, the rubber cap that seals the USB port won't wear out due to use!).
For your information, the Blackview still works perfectly and the 9200mAh battery still lasts 3-5 days.
One bonus with these huge batteries is that the charging cycles become much less frequent compared to "normal" phones, so to complete a battery, e.g., 800 cycles and start to fail, it will take double or triple the time compared to a normal phone. But since last year I was looking to replace it because it is now 6 years old, it has become slow and Android 8.1 no longer runs many applications due to its age, so at some point it had to be replaced.
This specific Ulefone (and the cheaper version without the thermal camera) was the only one that had the same features and sensors as the Blackview, except for waterproofing, so I hope I won't need another device until after 2030.
If something comes up, there will definitely be an update.

In short, watch video reviews for usage, the menu, button placement, camera performance, etc., to see if you really need and if something like this suits you for a mobile phone; this specific one and this category in general are tools, they are not phones in the sense that most people mean, and that's why they have disadvantages that many might not expect.
If it were a little smaller in dimensions and truly waterproof (and cheaper, of course), I would consider it the perfect phone.
Any disadvantages I found above, I hope will be resolved with some future update; otherwise, they are not so terrible that they prevent me from using the device, I knew beforehand what I needed and what I was buying, and having seen it up close, I am satisfied.

Edit: ATTENTION! I don't know about other companies, but it is NOT compatible with Cosmote's 5G even though the sellers (and Ulefone) claim that it is; this is obviously misleading advertising, and because it is quite heavy to sell a device as 5G but it works like 4G, it loses a star for that.
