The perfect shoe for those with what is called a wide toe, wide front foot, I wear them daily in a 12-hour hair salon and my nails and toes have finally calmed down, they don't slip at all in water and they are very lightweight, the only downside is that I don't see them lasting for long, the fabric on the side after 6 months
Unfortunately, after the Olympus 4, the 5 does not meet the high expectations set by its predecessor. Within 1.5 months, it started to fall apart.
The zero drop has impressed me. It is relatively lightweight and incredibly comfortable with very good shock absorption, thanks to the wide toebox. It feels like it hasn't locked in properly, but for some strange reason, it still holds up even on steep descents. It handles rocky terrain effortlessly. The negatives: After 150 km, the sole started to come off in some areas. Also, they started to tear around the ventilation holes (internally). I bought them for 103 euros, and the current asking price of 200 euros is simply ridiculous. At 100 euros, one could expect them to last at least 300 km... we'll see. Update 30.10.23, unfortunately, they didn't even last 300 km. For shoes in this price range, it is simply unacceptable.
Although hesitant about shoes with cushioning protection (coming from Vivobarefoot trail running shoes), I have to say that the difference is noticeable after many kilometers. For me, the wide toe box and zero drop are a must, so I decided to try the Olympus for my long runs and big races. Due to the cushioning they have, you lose some sensation but gain in comfort, so the mix of barefoot and Olympus works really well.
