I have mild back pain from work that was disrupting my sleep. My orthopedic doctor advised me, among other things, to try a memory foam mattress topper because the mattress I have is relatively hard. I have had it for about three months.
It was placed on top of a quite old mattress which is also quite hard and has minimal elasticity. We didn't want to change the mattress because in the coming months we will renovate the bedroom and possibly change the bed, and we didn't want to have bought a mattress because it would limit us in dimensions, so we decided to go with this temporary solution.
In essence, the difference is very significant, much more than "just noticeable" from both my perspective and my partner's. I was quite skeptical due to some negative comments and the small thickness of the mattress; I was thinking, with a thickness of 4 cm, what difference could you see? And yet I was proven wrong, and the mattress is now quite comfortable, and you enjoy sleep to a much greater extent! It has become much softer, and the memory foam is indeed quite high quality, hugging the body as this material should.
Since I have experience with quite expensive multi-layer mattresses both with memory foam and natural latex, etc., obviously a mattress topper costing 100€ cannot in any way transform an old (usually bad, as in our case) mattress and provide such results, but yes, it can extend the life of old mattresses or be placed in areas where the mattress is bad (e.g., in summer houses, villages, etc.) and we do not use it frequently.
P.S. The dimensions of the topper are quite accurate with a slight deviation of 2-3 cm and in no case over 5 cm as mentioned in some comments. Measure your mattress and get the appropriate base; you won't have an issue with the size!

FAR AWAY!! After a month, it became one with the mattress and the springs of the mattress are poking us! I THREW MY MONEY AWAY!!!
It was not what I expected, but since it has memory foam inside and it is not suitable for the climate we have in Greece, especially in the summer, I recently removed it and I am more comfortable with the mattress I had before placing it. However, it is subjective and it may fit better on another body. It was not what I expected.

If the mattress is not new or of good quality, these mattress toppers are the best choice. The difference is evident as soon as you lie down, until the next morning when you wake up having enjoyed a much higher quality sleep.

It does exactly what it promises. I had an issue with my back and since I got it, I have seen a tremendous improvement in my sleep. Quite soft and comfortable.

I went and bought this product from the store near my house because the new mattress I bought is very bad 90x1.90 and luckily there are these products and I sleep like a human and I don't feel the springs from the mattress in the exact size! It is very warm and when you lie down it feels like sinking into foam, which hinders your movements when you sleep. However, it is definitely not suitable for summer because you literally sweat. It's a waste of money. If you open it, you can't return it

The first impression when I put it on was not bad. I lay down the first night to sleep, but as time went by, I started to feel uncomfortable. After 2 hours of trying to sleep, I got up and took it off. I fell asleep in 15 minutes. It was also smaller in size and had a strange unpleasant smell. Of course, I returned it.
