The TAPO D230S1 doorbell allows you to know what is happening in front of your door through the Tapo app. With the starlight sensor and 2K 5MP resolution, you can check all the fine details captured even in low-light environments.
Clear Image
With the built-in spotlight and starlight sensor, the Tapo D230S1 reveals high-fidelity details and colors at night, while thanks to the smart detection and AI notification, the algorithms recognize people and cars and notify users according to their needs.
Head-to-toe view
With the camera's ultra-wide FOV (160° diagonal), the Tapo 4:3 live view ensures users can check visitors from head to toe at a distance of 1m†, showing more vertical details than other 16:9 door intercoms.
Flexible Placement
The different wedge options allow users to make the doorbell fit more placement positions. Users can also use wedges to adjust the views.
Power Supply
The TAPO D230S1 doorbell features a long-lasting battery. The rechargeable and removable battery with a low power consumption protocol extends your usage.
Special Features
The doorbell gives you the ability to answer in different ways. With two-way audio or a recorded quick response, you have the ability to communicate directly through the Tapo app. Additionally, the theft alarm notifies you when someone tries to remove the doorbell with the anti-theft alarm feature.
Flexible storage option
Store the recorded videos on the microSD card installed in the hub (up to 512 GB) or using the Tapo Care△ cloud storage services.

Qualitatively, I am satisfied; it does what it says... it falls quite short in sound to the point that you can't understand what they are saying, and also it takes a while to start recording, like someone comes out of the elevator and after 2 seconds it starts recording... another quite bad thing is that you have to be within 2.5 meters for it to start recording, even if you have the sensitivity all the way up... and you can't do 24-hour continuous recording; it only records clips when it detects motion...
After 4 months of use, it has burned out 2 memory cards, not using what the manufacturer specifically states for this doorbell, and it burned them out for me. I will return it to get my money back
The image quality is unacceptable....
You can't even distinguish a license plate (as mentioned in the description), but you struggle to tell if it's a man or a woman.
It's a shame because I had a good opinion of TP-Link.
Her other products are good, but her cameras are from mediocre to unacceptable.
It's not a matter of Mpixel but of the terrible lenses they have...
As an owner of the Ring 2020 model, I can say that it lacks in image quality and mainly annoys with the many false notifications, even if I have set specific monitoring points. On the plus side, it doesn't require a subscription and with the hub, you have memory and a speaker inside the house. Although the Ring didn't have a subscription, I would go back to it.
I have bought 2 and I am very satisfied.
Very good resolution, connectivity and quality, there are cheaper options but tp link is a company with a wide range and reputation so I didn't risk with something else.
Excellent product. One of the few that you will try to find negatives. Very easy installation even for beginners. Step by step detailed instructions in Greek from the excellent Tapo application. Very good image and sound quality.
P.S. I will come back for the reliability and connection.
Very easy to install, great clarity, with a wide-angle lens, detects motion and sends notifications if you choose, you can see an image when the doorbell rings and it also sends a notification, depending on if you choose, a very good device that works perfectly with the tapo app
Very good purchase! My experience over the past 6 months is as follows! Excellent build quality! The battery lasts for 6 months with one charge, depending on usage of course. The image quality is impeccable, even in pitch black darkness in a 10-15 meter hallway! Installation is very easy! Connectivity behind a reinforced door and at a distance of 10 meters is seamless, with 2K quality providing a very good bitrate! The live streaming time difference (lag) is less than one second! The Tp-link Tapo application has everything and is updated very frequently for bug fixes and new features. With a 32GB card, you can store over a year's worth of videos in the hub. I tried the 32GB card for testing purposes, intending to buy a larger one, but it wasn't necessary and I stuck with it. There is also the option to store in their own cloud for about €3.5 per month for a month (in case someone breaks into your house, steals the camera/bell or the hub with the SD card), so you will have footage of what happened. The only thing that gave me some difficulty is fine-tuning the filters and sensitivity detection, as it is very sensitive by default and you constantly receive notifications if you have them enabled. However, it depends on how limited you want the area to be for receiving notifications (I have it in a hallway of about 15 meters with 6 apartments, an elevator, and a staircase, where people are constantly going up and down. The tools for filters and sensitivities are very powerful. Overall, I am very satisfied and have purchased other peripherals (door open/close switch, thermometer/hygrometer, light switch, consumption recording socket) and they all work perfectly. It is a huge ecosystem worth getting into! If it were compatible with Apple's HomeKit, it would be a 5+ for me. With Alexa and Google Home, I hope it changes in the future.
I bought the product from a large electronics chain in Athens for 99€. My goal was to cover the entrance of my house with a camera and not an external area (the doorbell has IP certification so it can be placed outside). It is an apartment, so I don't have another door opposite, only the elevator exit and the staircase of the staircase. I will of course inform the other 2 apartments as well, but I don't think I will have a problem.
The installation was easy. It also has a good adhesive inside if someone doesn't want to mess with screws. I screwed it for better stability. All the devices I have at home are from tapo and I have the app on my mobile, which I am familiar with, so I connected both parts very easily. Both the doorbell and the hub. The doorbell does what I want. It notifies me when someone approaches the door. And of course, it has two-way audio. You can talk (like an intercom) or send messages in English (e.g. "I am calling the police" etc.)
I tap on the notification and see a short video of what happened. I already have my own doorbell. I bought it mostly for the camera and because the installation is easy. It doesn't need external power. It has its own battery. Its own doorbell is very loud, so if someone doesn't have it, they can't use it. And they can also choose the ringtone from the app.
The video quality is good and it is also very good in the dark.
The doorbell also comes with the ability to store videos in the cloud for €30 per year for 7 days of storage or €37 per year for 30 days of storage and slightly richer notifications in the package. I haven't installed it, but I'm considering it.
Overall, I am very satisfied with tapo products and I always recommend them. Like this one.
