With the new Platinum series, we provide a solution to the problem of energy consumption. The new unique design reduces operating costs, keeping your electricity bill as low as possible. If you need an efficient and quiet dehumidifier for a small three-bedroom house (approximately 80m²) and want to save money, then the Meaco 12L Platinum is the right dehumidifier for you.
Low consumption
The Meaco Platinum low-energy dehumidifiers have been tested at a leading international independent laboratory in Hong Kong, according to the most modern standards, and ranked at the highest possible levels of performance and low energy consumption. To achieve this result, the construction materials must be of high quality to maximize the device's performance. This means we can confidently say that the new Meaco Platinum dehumidifier series sets a new benchmark from other dehumidifiers on the market.
Meaco Control Logic
The Meaco Platinum Low Energy dehumidifiers feature Meaco Control Logic, which provides the dehumidifiers with the optimal balance between saving money and effective dehumidification. Explanation of Meaco Control Logic: when the target relative humidity you select with the device's humidistat is achieved, the dehumidifier will run the fan for only 5 minutes to check that the relative humidity is at the desired levels. It will then stop operating for 30 minutes, then start the fan again for 5 minutes to check the room's relative humidity. If the relative humidity has increased above the preset level, the dehumidifier will start operating again. If the relative humidity is below the preset level, the dehumidifier will stop again for another 30 minutes. This process significantly reduces the operating cost of the dehumidifier and saves a lot of money, up to 80%

I have owned the dehumidifier for 5 years (20 lt).
We are very satisfied with the purchase, the results are more than desirable. It is definitely worth its money.
I will also buy the smaller size (12lt) for another space I have.
I have been using this specific model for 6 years now, and it still works flawlessly.
It is a compressor dehumidifier, which means that at low temperatures, below 16-17 degrees, it operates intermittently because it goes into defrost mode (like all compressor dehumidifiers).
Its power consumption is its biggest advantage at 165 watts, as it is one of the lowest on the market.
The water tank has a capacity of 6 liters, which needs to be filled twice a day under ideal conditions (30 degrees with 80% humidity). However, you have the option to directly connect it to the drainage so that you don't have to constantly empty it.
Its functions are simple and easy. You select the desired humidity level in the room, and it automatically stops when it reaches that level. When it rises again, it starts again. It also has a continuous operation setting for drying clothes or areas with high humidity. It has an audible notification when the water tank is full and it automatically stops. It does not have fan speed options, and its noise level is moderate compared to others. I would not recommend it for use in a bedroom. It also has a timer to stop its operation after the selected time.
Its filter is very easy to clean, and you also have the option to replace it with a better HEPA type, although this reduces its performance by about 10%.
I use it in an 85 sqm space with a peculiar layout and good insulation, on an island near the sea, where it manages to maintain the humidity at desired levels of 55 to 60. For cold houses with poor insulation, I recommend a dehumidifier with zeolite.
Its construction is sturdy and of good quality, but its plastics have yellowed a bit after so many years.
Owner of the dehumidifier for 2 years now. The house is 78 sq.m but it barely covers it, I consider that it works for several hours to lower the humidity. Additionally, it synchronizes very easily resulting in making more noise.
I bought it in late October 2019 (€220). I had the best recommendations from a friend, which were confirmed. Probably the most economical in consumption, a catalytic element for me. Good build quality. Set at 60% humidity, it opens and closes automatically whenever needed (60 sqm house). Small and tolerable noise for me (I have it on a rug). I have never had another dehumidifier to compare. I think it will withstand the test of time.
After my brother's encouragement, who has had it for three years,
I decided to buy it too.
In the first 15 days after its purchase, I regretted spending my money.
You simply can't stand the noise in the house.
I contacted customer service and reported the problem to them.
They informed me that they would have to inspect it after a fifteen-day wait and informed me that this particular model is defective from the mother company and that the motor screws need tightening. Then they sent the dehumidifier back to me and once again, it's the same story without any noticeable difference
After four years of operation, I have the following to report:
• This dehumidifier is one of the best purchases I have made in terms of electrical appliances. The major problem of humidity, especially in northern rooms and particularly in the corners of the rooms, has disappeared.
• The air inside the house is more pleasant and healthier (it has helped the children with respiratory problems and especially with sleep).
• The house heats up more easily (with direct savings in heating expenses) as the heat from the radiators is distributed more easily and the dehumidifier itself increases the outgoing air by one or two degrees.
• Its operation is suitable for houses where the temperature is around 20 to 22 degrees Celsius. For colder houses, especially in rural areas where there is moderate to no heating, the model with Zeolite (Desiccant) is required due to its different mode of operation.
• Its energy consumption is at extremely low levels compared to other dehumidifiers.
• The noise is significantly reduced if it is placed on a folded bath towel.
• I have set it to 55% humidity and it stops at around 52% (I measure it with a room hygrometer), which is the ideal humidity for a house.
• In the first few days of use, I had it running in each room separately with the door closed for two days to completely dry the walls. Then I have it in the living room and it fully handles a 110 sqm house with good insulation and a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius at night and 22 degrees Celsius during the day.
• It is truly incredible for drying clothes. We put the clothes on the drying rack, place it next to the dehumidifier for the whole night (with the outgoing air blowing onto the clothes), and in the morning our clothes are dry and without any smell from the lit fireplaces.
• The HEPA filter can clean the atmosphere but it reduces the performance of the dehumidifier due to, from what I can understand, reduced airflow.
It is an excellent purchase that I highly recommend.
I bought the product from Athens. I moved abroad. Unfortunately, during the first year, I encountered a problem. It didn't release any water while it was functioning normally. The compressor broke down. I called the dealership and in England, they told me that the warranty is only valid in Greece. I tried to get it fixed here and they confirmed the compressor issue. I asked the dealership to send me the spare part so I can fix it here since it's under warranty, and their response was: "It has never happened to us before, so it's not valid." Unacceptable because I spent 230€. Never again will I receive any service.
I have had it for 3 years and it works flawlessly until now. Of course, I only have it during the winter because that's when we have a problem with humidity. Low consumption, the only downside is that it tunes (noise), but at tolerable levels.
+Power consumption
+Build quality
+Good reviews in Greece and abroad
-The HEPA filter, although it should catch all the particles that pass through the air, has a small gap that allows unfiltered air to pass through. (However, it still does its job and the atmosphere feels clean)
-Only one fan speed
I recommend it. In just a few hours, it reduced the humidity from 80% to 50% in a room that has had humidity and mold problems for years. It stays on permanently and starts and stops on its own as needed. Regarding the noise, it is inevitable. It's like having a dishwasher running constantly (not exactly like an air conditioner, as most people say). Personally, I have it next to my bed and I can sleep without being bothered by it. I got used to it from the first day.
The reason why I believe someone should choose this one instead of a cheaper alternative is because it is more reliable and there are very few negative reviews about it being defective, plus there is reliable customer service. The comments and reviews about cheaper alternatives mention that they burn out and break within a few months, and people are not satisfied. Lastly, this one consumes less power compared to others, which have double or triple the power consumption.
Update (12/19/18):
I want to mention that after two weeks, it not only saved us from humidity (even with the poor insulation we have, it did an excellent job), but personally, as someone with dermatological issues and allergies, I haven't had any flare-ups since it started working. I feel so comfortable at home, I wake up and sleep comfortably every day. In terms of heating, it's true that now we can set the thermostat to 20 degrees instead of 21 and still be comfortable. I used to often use an electric blanket to reach 23 degrees so I wouldn't feel cold, but I have stopped using it. High humidity is really a nuisance. The black mold that used to appear on the ceiling of one room, no matter how much we cleaned it with chlorine and soda, hasn't reappeared. I hope it lasts for years, as most people say.
Update (03/19/19):
I haven't unplugged it since the first day, it works automatically as needed. I clean the filter once a week and it works perfectly. There is no difference in power consumption, it consumes as much as a light bulb. It cleans the air particles perfectly, but please note that it doesn't filter out cigarette smoke odor. And I will say it again, this year was the first year that the ceiling didn't turn black from mold, not a trace of it. It saved us.
I have it every day and it works as much as it should, I don't know how long it should last, I have it for 4 years, very good machine, I clean it occasionally so it can work properly.
One thing I have to say, the rest in front of it are just toothpastes, if I were to get another one, I would get the 20l with 255w.
Initially, my parents had it in a 40sqm house that had a distinct smell of mold, and when you slept, you felt a heavy head. After 2-3 days, the atmosphere had changed. The air was clean and the space smelled fresh. During the winter, its function was as described. Then I took it myself, after my parents got the larger 20L one, as they were also satisfied with it, as it had a larger space. As someone who has been using it for a winter, I can say that it works as it should, except for the noise, not only during motor operation but also in the plastic parts. Especially the container that collects the water will start creaking after a while. What I did as a solution to eliminate it was to apply electrical tape (the one used by electricians) on all the contact points of the container with the body. This way, it still functions properly but no longer creaks.
It squeaks but does the job...
I haven't taken it out of the socket for 2 years...
There is a big difference in the house, the walls don't run...
If it had a bigger tank, it would be super. I empty it twice a day in the winter...
20/10/2022
6 years in the socket, I only empty the water and clean the filter... it still squeaks
For a machine that broke down 3 months after the warranty expired, I can't give it more than one star. Also, after the first few days of operation, it made a lot of noise. In the last 4-5 days, I hadn't emptied the water tank and found that very strange. I took out the tank, which was almost full, but apparently not 100% since I didn't hear the audible notification, and it was still working fine when I closed it. I also noticed that both the front (lower) part of the dehumidifier and the back part, where there is a sticker that is visible when we remove the tank, felt particularly hot when I touched them. In the past few days, I suddenly saw the humidity indicator go from 99% to 98%... 91% and at some point decrease to near actual levels. Of course, the readings were incorrect since we never had such high humidity levels and it's not possible for us to have them. Additionally, I have an external hygrometer that showed around 45% to 60% humidity. Now, no matter how many hours you let it work, even with 70% humidity, it doesn't produce any drops while it continues to "burn". We have had the machine for about 2 years and we are very careful with its use. It only works with closed windows, I clean the filter carefully 2-3 times a week, etc. I contacted the dealership and I have to take it to them, and only after they see it, they will tell me the cost of repair.
I have this particular model for two years now, in a top floor apartment (6th floor) with poor insulation and exposed from all sides. I had a big problem with humidity in the closets and cold in the bedrooms, especially on rainy days. For the past two years that the dehumidifier has been operating, I have forgotten what humidity means and also the natural gas consumption has decreased, and the house heats up faster and with better efficiency. The only downside is the noise during the night (if it needs to operate).
Guys, I've had it for four years now. It does its job, but: 1) it burned out the circuit board in two years. At least the after-sales service is good. The noise level is moderate
I have it for two years in a seaside area. Simply, it is what it says without much fuss. I got it for the bedroom and it eventually covers the whole house (75 square meters). I haven't seen a drop on the windows again, the kids don't cough, and the atmosphere is warmer and friendlier. It doesn't consume much electricity and it extracts 7 liters per day. The hygrometer is accurate. I check it with another one. Quality machine. The noise is a bit more than it should be, maybe because the airflow is not adjustable. However, it is not bothersome unless you want to sleep next to it.
I have been using the Meaco 12L Platinum for a day now. A short period of time to have a complete opinion, of course, but enough for some initial conclusions. The noise, initially, is something relative for each person... but it is definitely not excessive or unbearable as I read in some comments. If you have it on a carpet, it is literally like having an air conditioner. You almost don't pay attention to it. No dehumidifier can be completely silent. I initially set the humidity to 55% as recommended by the manufacturer, and it never managed to reach that level from around 80% in one day... it dropped to about 57%... but the day is quite rainy and humid outside. However, even in just one day, the difference was noticeable in the house. The temperature increased, the windows didn't sweat at all, and in the morning, for the first time in a while, we all woke up without stuffy noses. The design is very good, it is small in size and lightweight. The fact that it doesn't have wheels or that the grilles open manually is completely irrelevant to me and I cannot include it as a downside. It is definitely worth the money.
Update on the evaluation:
Almost two weeks later, the humidity levels have dramatically decreased inside the house. The dehumidifier hardly works anymore, only if it goes 3% above the target set. The difference is noticeable compared to before. Excellent choice!
It makes a lot of noise, the container is small, it simply doesn't suffice in a house with a lot of humidity, for me it's not important because it is used exclusively with external drainage
We have had this dehumidifier since November and I can say that we have not been completely satisfied. No matter which room we put it in, it does not reduce the humidity below 60% no matter how many hours it works. We tried it with heating, we tried it without. Nevertheless, it definitely noticeably improves the atmosphere in the house! It just operates non-stop.... As for drying clothes, it didn't do a great job even though we had the vents directed towards the clothes... However, its construction is excellent, the noise is not very annoying, and as for consumption, we are waiting for the DEI bill to find out.
I bought it 3 months ago and I use it in a 12 sqm room and a 50 sqm open space. In 1.5 hours in the room (north-facing), it reduced the humidity level from 78% to 55% (as recommended by the manufacturer), while in the open space it took 3 hours to drop from 75% to 55%. Both rooms are heated with radiators.
POSITIVES: Very good quality, moderate noise, you can set the desired humidity level from 30% to 80% in 5% increments. However, the dehumidifier stops when it reaches 5% less humidity than the set level and activates the fan. Creates a very good atmosphere. Energy-efficient (165W).
NEGATIVES: It does not have wheels. The louvers are manually adjustable. In another unheated room of 65 sqm with 80% humidity, it did not turn off for 12 hours and I had to empty the tank twice.
CONCLUSION: I do not regret buying it, but a close friend has another one (not mentioning the brand to avoid advertising) with the same and better results (using it in an 85 sqm space) at a cheaper price, with wheels and a larger tank
I have had it for 2 years and I am generally satisfied. However, I do not understand the extravagant reviews. Its biggest positive is the low consumption. For the rest, I imagine there are better solutions.
The real negative is that its plastics resonate during operation and the noise increases significantly.
I have had the dehumidifier for 2 months now, it does its job well, I have nothing negative to say, the only thing maybe is that when it's working, the part that is the air filter sometimes makes a little noise, nothing significant, and overall it doesn't bother at night, its noise is as much as the noise of the air conditioner.
I have had it for about a year and I am completely satisfied. I live in an area with high humidity (Rhodes) and it has significantly improved the microclimate of the house from the first day of operation. I highly recommend it for families as it is also resistant to child cannibalism (it withstands 3 small destroyers daily)
I have had it for about a year, it does its job. The noise is something that is common (like an air conditioner). The container is not sufficient for the first few days, then it needs to be emptied once a day..... of course, there is always the option to connect it to the drain or use a larger container! I do not regret it.
We have had it for 2 months in a 80 sqm house with a lot of humidity due to the area and poor insulation.
The dehumidifier is very high quality in terms of materials and has a low noise level, but I would prefer a larger one because often it fails to reduce the humidity below 65%.
The room temperature plays a very important role, as is generally the case for compressor dehumidifiers.
Very good dehumidifier. The noise is tolerable - reasonable. It reduces humidity to acceptable levels in a 50sqm area. I placed it next to my closet and the musty smell almost disappeared. It has a fan intensity level, and the shutter opens manually. I keep it permanently on at 65, and the humidity stays consistently below 60. Before, my record was 84! In the first few days, it emptied at least 4-5 full containers.
