For this price, I only evaluate one of its features, which is very useful for me. Yes, it is not 100% accurate, but with a new battery, you can find the following very important things for buildings: 1. Distance of connectors in a substructure or beam, and if a corner breaks, you can see the cross-section. 2. Number of reinforcement bars longitudinally, for example in a substructure (here with reservations because you go deeper and often lose some reinforcement elements or get confused if they are very close). They should have a small cover and few bars, but who can say they haven't encountered countless houses with three irons per side or even one in each corner, old constructions? So here, in many cases, it has its usefulness. 3. Detection in buildings. It helps you find structural elements such as columns and beams embedded in walls.
Yes, it is not a specialized tool for this job, but with this money, you always have it with you, lightweight, and you don't even fear it getting damaged. Immediately, you get a picture of what you have in front of you.
Unreliable tool. Above all, with the flow of electricity, it showed that there was no power. When I removed the cover, it showed that there is power. In another case, it showed that the power cable runs right below the beam, while it was actually 10 centimeters below the beam. It only detects the iron of the beams at a short distance, but not in the correct position. I drilled with a drill bit in many points where it showed that there is iron and I couldn't find it. Good for playing, not for work.
A very disappointing detector regarding electrical wires (it doesn't beep even above the socket or the switch), it easily finds metal inside poles, I haven't tested it for wood. I bought a Chinese one from Aliexpress (KAIWEETS-KES 01) and it finds the wires inside the wall.
It shows a pretty good machine for detecting metal pipes (iron, copper) in the ground that I bought it for. For this reason alone!!
As for the power, it is not completely reliable, not at all, as others have written. It detects elsewhere (e.g. supply from a clock) and not at all for cables inside the wall, even though there are cables with power passing through those areas. Look for another one for detecting embedded cables and power!!
It will help you avoid nails in the wall, but it will struggle in the corners. Maybe I'm not using it correctly, I don't know. Anyway, I don't know of anything better for this price.
Unfortunately, I wasted my money! It can hardly catch cables at all! Not even when they are loaded. Don't buy it! I will check if it's still under warranty to return it.
update: The problem is severe when the cable is deep. It finds them more easily on the surface.
I have been the owner of a Bosch laser meter for years, which has never disappointed me, and the time has come for me to acquire a mainly rebar detector.
I will not go into details about whether it has accuracy of 2 or 3 centimeters, or how many rebar rods it can detect, or how many power cables, etc.
I am an architect, I just wanted a reliable tool, so that I don't waste my money on something that doesn't work, just because I got it at a good price.
True professionals need good tools.
I did some research on Stanley and the green series of Bosch, and also based on the recommendations of a very reputable tool store, I understood that most of them are for amateur use and are aimed at household use.
So far, the tool covers what I want: to find where there are columns and beams, reliably, without the anxiety of making a mistake.
So far, it has not disappointed me at all in the scans I do.
I will not go into detail about the power lines, although I think it gives very good detections there as well.
Of course, if you are very demanding and need a lot of detail, you go for much more expensive tools.
******************I'm coming back: definitely calibrate it and it works great!!!!!!!!! ********************
Good, it has helped me many times for cable detection, it makes some mistakes but in combination with another one I have from a different company, which is more affordable, I find results overall very good, but if it was more affordable it would be perfect
100% it is not expensive (although it is much ahead of other similar ones in its category), but it is in a very high percentage and if you find it around €80 or lower in some offer, get it.
Easy and convenient product to use and read the indications. It is quite good at finding metallic elements on walls, but only if they are isolated. In the case of wanting to measure on reinforced concrete or beams, it gets confused and often gives incorrect readings, making it practically useless. Its effectiveness on drywall was good, but keep in mind that these devices need to detect current flowing through the cables to find them. If there is no current, they won't detect anything.
It has good features and if it cost 15-20 euros, it would be okay. At 70+, it is completely impractical and I cannot recommend it to anyone.
In metal, with calibration, it performs decently, although with some minor flaws.
It does not reach a great depth.
In the electrical conductor, it performs poorly. It only achieves accuracy when parallel to the conductor. Accuracy across the conductor is as if it has the eye 2-3 points higher. Caution!
