Excellent Mesh wifi system! Very easy installation using the Deco app.
It replaced a previous mesh from the same company (a triple M5) in a very simple way, and the difference is very clear, not so much in coverage which is similar, but in connection speed at various points in the area (around 150 sqm) which now reaches very close (70-95%) to the nominal connection speed (fiber) on the internet.
It is a very good way to have a stable, high-speed wireless network in your space.
I give 5 stars because I received the v4.20 which has recently received a serious upgrade.
From v3.20 and onwards, it is AX5400 resulting in better speeds overall.
It connected as a satellite in a mesh with the main TP link BE 65 and works perfectly.
I have the 2.4Ghz activated only on the IOT network.
With an internet line of 500 Mbps, it provides up to 500 Mbps two rooms away.
The communication with other devices on the same network ranges from 900~980 Mbps.
VFM I don't know if it is at the price of €168. Version v3.20 only. I use it as a router behind the Zte H1600 with pppoe, for username and password the phone number with Cosmote to send it to you, and you can manage the network quite easily for the average user. HomeShield that it has with subscription I haven't tried so there will be an update.
For the average user, it is good if they want something more than just a simple Access Point or a Router. The beam forming is excellent and the difference is noticeable, as well as the mesh.
For the user who wants something more and intends to use it as an extension of a more advanced network, they should look for something else. This product does not suffice. The problem is that it was designed to operate as a standalone system, and this creates issues. A characteristic example is that you cannot set as many SSIDs as you want, and you only have 3 options: the regular, the guest, and the IoT. The worst part is that you cannot do VLAN tagging, so from a security standpoint, it simply lacks!
Its price, on sale, at €170 was good. At the usual price of €220, there are other options, perhaps even better, depending on the intended use.
I just bought a dual set with hardware v.3! I was worried because I read on Reddit that they are glorified Access Points, but the review below says otherwise, as they say in my village.
tl;dr version: Basically, it's just one network (with simultaneous broadcasting on 2.4 + 5 GHz), which means that as you move around the house, you don't need to switch from, say, Saloni_2.4G to Grafeio_5G when going towards the office. You connect to one network, and as you roam around, you just switch the device you are connected to.
The installation was super easy; even older people can complete it very easily. So far, everything is good; I have a simple unified network (2.4 + 5 GHz simultaneous broadcasting) and a network for IoT (smart lights and such internet of shit, as I personally call it) on 2.4 GHz because they only receive there. The topology is with 200 Mbps Vodafone VDSL, in a 120 sqm house, one as the main router for the living room covering about 60% of the house and the other inside the office for the gaming PC. There is a diagonal wall of over 5 meters, a closet, and two vertical walls between them. Inside (the office), the speed is halved, and obviously, since we are talking about a wireless connection, the ping increases. I'm not some e-sports champion; we just play CS with friends, we are not shroud, and so far, it's enough.
It was purchased to replace a setup with 3 powerlines, which worked just fine while I was on 100 Mbps Vodafone VDSL. As soon as I upgraded to 200 Mbps (Vodafone) VDSL, suddenly everything connected to the Powerline in the office kept dropping the network. And I don't just mean the Powerline, but the router would restart in general. This is because the powerline was returning many errors to the Router - and all routers have a small ROM memory - it would fill up and force it to restart. In short, I would turn on the PC to play with friends, and the whole router would "drop."
First day of use for the review, obviously everything will be rosy, but knock on wood, I've done everything in my power to stress the bandwidth by downloading 6 games totaling 180+ GB, and I had 4 packet losses in total. Steam, Epic, XBOX game pass, so far nothing.
In conclusion, if you have any concerns, you can ask about the product here; I will do my best to answer whatever I can, and it fully met my needs. Theoretically, the increased ping could perhaps be reduced by buying a third AP.
*Edit 1st week*: everything is perfect; I completely cut off the WiFi of the other one and I'm playing just fine. 0 downtime.
After 3 years with DECO M4 (I have also reviewed this excellent model), I decided to switch to WiFi 6, since I now have a WiFi 6 connection and WiFi 6 devices.
Positives: 100% signal throughout the 110sqm house, and it even reaches the street from the 1st floor. Stable connection. Excellent speed, 92% throughout the house. Excellent response from the processor. Beautiful and discreet.
Negatives: none.
So it is an excellent model, to which I have connected 45 devices, small and large, which works like a digital clock!
28/8/24, unfortunately they broke and do not connect to each other. I will update on the handling by TP Link.
5/9/24, they recognized the fault and I will go to get a credit. One star for the X60, and 5 for TP Link, because they acknowledged the failure and acted like a great company.
I have bought 3 three-story maisonettes measuring 50*50*50 sq.m.
Internet = Starlink.
The first one became a Router because the Starlink Router seems to be average.
The other 2 became Access Points.
Very good coverage. It also improved streaming when I'm watching.
Overall, I am very satisfied even though the price is a bit steep (270 euros). I deducted one star due to the range, which could be a little larger. Initially, I had settled on the kit with 2 devices and ultimately chose this one with 3, and it seems like I made the right decision because otherwise I would have had coverage issues.
It exceeded my expectations in terms of speed and coverage. I installed it on the second floor of my apartment using a 25-meter UTP cable. With a 500Mbps connection, I get 500Mbps download and upload speeds.
I read the excellent reviews and bought it.
Unfortunately, it is a tremendous disappointment.
I have it installed in a 140 sqm apartment (1 floor) with a Cosmote 200Mbps connection (the Cosmote router is set to 200, while the ZTE 1600 has a slower connection).
The positives are that it is beautiful and easy to install.
The negatives are:
1. Very poor range. Even though it is placed in the middle of the apartment:
In my office, which is 4 meters away, the signal already has a 40% loss.
In the bathroom (distance from the device is 7 meters), the signal is lost many times.
2. Terrible speeds many times:
Sometimes it is fine, but many times the speed drops to terrible performance (we are talking about speedtest results with a speed of 5Mbps).
3. Frequent disconnections and reconnections.
I don't know if I got a defective product, but I have now switched back to the ZTE's WiFi, which is much more stable and faster.
The only reason I got the Mesh was for the back rooms and bathroom, which had a weak signal, but the Tp Link is much worse.
Excellent product. Before installing it, I used repeaters with many range and stability issues. By removing the repeaters and installing this specific system, my speed tripled. Stable internet everywhere in the house without losing any speed. Great range. A year-long problem was solved thankfully. It is worth the investment of money.
It is worth its money and more! Incredible speeds! I bought the kit with the two, and one became a modem on Starlink, and the second became a Mesh via WiFi for now. It covers the whole house; previously, I needed 3 powerline adapters which had many interruptions due to configuration issues. With the 2, I have signal everywhere; you just need to find the right spot for them to communicate with each other through the Mesh network. After that, you can forget about them; the devices automatically switch connections depending on which one is closer, resulting in always having 5 bars of signal everywhere!!! I will come back as soon as I set up the ethernet backhaul.
Simply fantastic, you just set it up and forget about it, you never have to deal with the signal again, you can easily change the WI FI frequency if it's congested, you can easily control the signal, it has protection against malicious software, you don't have to change the repeater if you move from room to room. It's fast. It's expensive but worth every euro. Finally, I can easily watch Netflix without having to restart the router anymore and without signal interruptions.
