The Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 50 series are premium USB Type-A and Type-C drives that provide business-grade security with FIPS 197 certification, 256-bit AES hardware encryption in XTS mode, including safeguards against BadUSB with digitally signed firmware and Brute Force password attacks.

The Vault Privacy 50 supports the option of multiple passwords (Administrator, User, and One-Time Recovery) with complex or passphrase modes. This enhances the ability to recover access to data if one of the passwords is forgotten. The traditional complex mode allows a password from 6-16 characters using 3 out of 4 character sets. The new passphrase mode allows a numeric PIN, sentence, word list, or even lyrics from 10 to 64 characters. The administrator can enable a user password and a one-time recovery password or reset the user password to restore access to the data. To assist with password entry, the "eye" symbol can be enabled to reveal the typed password, reducing typographical errors that lead to failed login attempts.

To protect against potential malware on untrusted systems, both the Administrator and User can set the read-only mode for write protection of the drive. Additionally, the built-in virtual keyboard protects passwords from keyloggers or screenloggers.

With FIPS 197 certification and TAA compliance, organizations can customize and configure VP50 series drives with a product identifier (PID) for integration with standard endpoint management software to meet corporate IT and cybersecurity requirements through Kingston's Customization Program.

Small and medium-sized businesses can use the Administrator role to locally manage their drives, e.g., use Administrator to configure or reset user or one-time recovery passwords for employees, recover access to data on locked drives, and comply with laws and regulations when forensics are required.
