Activate the Hero overclocker within you, with built-in intelligence to scan, predict, and adjust CPU performance parameters, as well as tools for managing and monitoring the system's vital points.
Tuning is now faster and smarter than ever. ASUS AI Overclocking profiles the CPU and cooling to predict the optimal configuration and push the system to its limits. The predicted values can be applied automatically or used as a starting point for further experimentation.
Conventional motherboards use single-ended sensing taken from a location that is not ideal, resulting in a significant difference between the actual voltage supplied to the CPU and the value reported in the software. The ROG Maximus Z790 Hero features a differential sensing circuit and a fine-tuned integrated circuit that simplify overclocking and tuning, allowing you to monitor voltages more accurately.
Today's processor architectures place incredible demands on the power design of the motherboard, as they transition from deep power-saving functions, moving from lower power operation to full load in an instant. The latest ROG VRM architecture rises to the challenge, using teamed power stages to rapidly switch current while maintaining exemplary thermal performance.
The comprehensive memory tuning options are the cornerstone of ROG motherboards. With the ROG Maximus Z790 Hero, you can harness the full potential of DDR5 modules, regardless of whether they come from an extreme-speed kit or an entry-level set that would otherwise be locked.
ROG has a long tradition of delivering the fastest memory performance, and DDR5 is no exception. Thanks to improved signal routing, enthusiast kits have now far surpassed 7 GT/s on the Maximus Z790 Hero, and who knows how far future DIMMs can go? Seasoned veterans can test their mettle by playing with the extensive array of tuning options in the UEFI.
The ASUS Enhanced Memory Profile (AEMP) is an exclusive hardware and firmware solution for overclocking memory modules. The second version of AEMP allows for automatic tuning of kits during system startup and leverages the PCB trace optimizations of the Maximus Z790 Hero to push frequencies to higher levels than ever before. AEMP II can even overclock mixed kits in a four-DIMM configuration, while the extensive support library now extends to nearly every DDR5 module that otherwise lacks XMP support.
With large arrays of heatsinks and numerous controls for water-cooled and air-cooled settings, the Hero is fully equipped to combat the fiery heat of the latest processors and high-speed units.
A VRM heatsink on the MOSFETs and chokes is connected to the aluminum I/O cover via an integrated heat pipe to increase mass and surface area for dissipation.
Large aluminum heatsinks provide extensive surface area for cooling mounted M.2 units, while each of the card's three slots features a dedicated plate for additional heat dissipation.
Each thermal pad improves overall heat transfer from the system by bridging the heat generated by the power stages to the heatsink. For future maintenance, a replacement thermal pad is also included in the package.
An electro-galvanized steel plate reinforces the spine of the ROG Maximus Z790 Hero to prevent bending.
A dedicated heatsink removes heat from the chipset to maintain optimal operating temperature.
Each header can be set to monitor and react to three user-configurable thermal sensors for workload-based cooling, and all settings can be easily managed by Fan Xpert 4 or UEFI.
In addition to the pair of CPU fan headers, the Maximus Z790 Hero features four chassis headers, each supporting auto-detection of PWM or DC fans.
An additional PWM/DC fan header offers dedicated control for self-contained water-cooling setups.
Dual water-temperature headers and a flow-rate header feed information directly into Armoury Crate, allowing you to monitor coolant temperatures and flow rate throughout the entire loop.
A dedicated header can supply over 3 amps to high-performance PWM or DC water pumps.
A dedicated header allows for monitoring temperatures at the input/output points of any component.
A dedicated header allows for constant monitoring of flow rate throughout the entire loop.
The ROG Maximus Z790 Hero features the same LGA 1700 socket as the Z690 models, so it is compatible with all coolers that supported the previous generation, including all AIO options from ASUS and ROG.
Next-generation connectivity for graphics, storage, peripherals, and networking, as well as high-definition audio for all types of setups - all combined to create a card for the present and the future.
Two additional M.2 units can be installed with the ROG Hyper M.2 Card, offering the ability to operate simultaneously under a large heatsink.
Both PCIe 5.0 slots offer incredible speeds of up to 64GB/s for compatible devices.
To withstand the weight of new graphics cards, they are protected with SafeSlot, while the top slot also features a Q-Release button for quick card removal.
Each port provides up to 40 Gbps of bidirectional bandwidth for the latest devices and drives. Both ports can be used for up to two external 4K displays, while the PCIe bandwidth extends up to 32 Gbps.
USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 can enhance Type-C data transfers with speeds of up to 20 Gbps. The port also features Quick Charge 4+ technology that can quickly charge devices with up to 60W.
The ROG SupremeFX audio technology provides an exceptional 113 dB signal-to-noise ratio on the line-in connection to deliver outstanding recording quality. There is also a low-dropout regulator for cleaner power delivery to the SupremeFX ALC4082 codec and an integrated ESS ES9218 QUAD DAC capable of reaching -115dB THD+N for superior front panel output.
The combined solution allows for end-to-end 32-bit 384 kHz resolution playback that conveys all the subtle nuances and shades of every audio track.
Balance the thermal and acoustic elements of any build with a single click. An exclusive ASUS algorithm reduces unnecessary noise while performing a quick stress test, and then monitors CPU temperatures to dynamically adjust fans to optimal speeds.
This utility leverages a vast deep learning database to reduce over 5 million types of background noise from incoming or outgoing audio, helping to ensure crystal-clear communication in games or calls.
GameFirst VI optimizes networking performance by allocating bandwidth in real-time based on application usage scenarios and corresponding learning algorithms. The latest update includes dedicated support for GeForce NOW to ensure the lowest possible latency during intense game streaming sessions.
The AI Suite 3 dashboard contains a set of intuitive controls that enhance CPU performance while maintaining system stability.
An intuitive advanced feature offered through UEFI allows you to take full control. An integrated search function makes finding options easier, and various advanced features let you make smart and detailed adjustments, so you can fine-tune performance exactly as you want.
The EZ mode displays vital settings and statistics and also offers guides, drag-and-drop functionality, and one-click application of important settings, all to help you get your rig up and running in no time.
The ROG Maximus Z790 Hero is illuminated by a colorful array of microstructures called Polymo Lighting. Two stylish patterns are available for those who want to experiment in Armoury Crate and synchronize with the rest of the system for a brilliant display of individuality.
Upgrade your game with the complementary enhanced Aura Sync aesthetics, with preset lighting effects that can easily sync with compatible ROG graphics cards, monitors, keyboards, and mice to give your setup a unified look.
The addressable Gen 2 RGB headers can be controlled with Aura software, which automatically adjusts the lighting effects you prefer based on the number of LEDs present in the connected equipment or strip. The new headers also offer backward compatibility with existing Aura RGB components.
Sonic Studio supports virtual surround for headphones based on HRTF (head-related transfer function), creating an immersive soundscape that draws you deeper into the action. Sonic Studio's intuitive interface also offers a range of EQ options and one-click presets, allowing you to tailor the audio to your personal preferences or the characteristics of your headphones.
Armoury Crate is a software utility designed to provide you with centralized control of supported gaming products, making it easy to set up the appearance and atmosphere of your system. From a single intuitive interface, Armoury Crate helps you customize RGB lighting and effects for compatible devices and sync them with Aura Sync to create a unified lighting system across your setup. Additionally, Armoury Crate's Fan Xpert4 tool provides comprehensive control over fans, water pumps, and all-in-one (AIO) coolers.
