First of all, I have to say that I have been working with DVD-ROM reading and writing devices for many years. I have also worked with many old CD-ROM reading/writing devices. I have tried devices from Sony, LG, and Samsung. By far, the best in every aspect were the ones from Sony. They were quiet, fast, and reliable. Unfortunately, Sony no longer produces such devices. The factory that produced them has been closed for several years now.

The device that this review is about is indeed quite reliable. However, it makes a very annoying noise when reading and writing discs, and its speed is not the best for both recording and reading. Its external appearance is quite nice in black color, of course. But there are much more beautiful ones out there.

What I didn't like at all and never got used to with this device is the button that opens and closes the tray. It is round and small, not wide and elongated like in other competing devices. It makes it quite difficult for me every time I want to open or close it.

And finally, on to the negatives: The classic green light that indicates that the device is functioning is very small and made in such a way that it is very difficult to see it turning on. In all the other devices I have had in the past, the power light was very visible. Another failure from Samsung, therefore.

Therefore, this product is very mediocre and its price is very high for the few things it offers. And I don't easily recommend it for a computer user to trust. Not when there are much better models available in the market. The decision is yours.
