The 20 MP Stacked BSI Live MOS uses a new way of arranging imaging elements to let in more light while also enhancing low-light performance. Your photos will have stunning resolution with low noise and a rich dynamic range of expression from shadows to highlights.
Low light photography
It features a standard ISO range up to 25,600. When light is hard to find, you can increase the ISO to 102,400 to capture bright photos in the most challenging environments.
Even better IBIS
You will have up to 8 steps of compensation that eliminate camera shake even at low shutter speeds. Capture bright, blur-free photos even in challenging low-light settings.
TruePic X
It is equipped with the state-of-the-art TruePic X image processing chip that works in tandem with the Stacked BSI Live MOS sensor. The TruePic X offers stunning startup speeds, exciting autofocus, and incredibly fast continuous shooting. Besides speed, this updated processing chip raises the bar with image quality. Enjoy true colors, unparalleled clarity, and vibrant gradations.
Handheld High Res Shot
Sometimes you just need more resolution than a 20 MP image. Now you can capture a 50 MP shot with the press of a button. Even better, you won't need a tripod or other stabilization equipment. Just hold the camera and shoot. The OM-1 automatically takes 12 shots and instantly merges them into one high-resolution photo with stunning detail.
4K/C4K 60p 10BIT
Shooting in 4K resolution offers you stunningly detailed and incredibly vivid video that will play smoothly on the largest screens. The OM-1 can also record FHD at a standard 240p, which looks beautiful on almost any screen. You can also shoot at a high bit rate in various frame sizes, including H.264 and H.265.
Ultimate Slow Motion
Slow things down and capture the ultimate slow-motion video. The 240 frames per second in Full HD is an achievement in itself. With the new TruPic X processor, the OM-1 can now capture the bat's swing in a ball game and even capture the flight of a hummingbird.
OM-Log LUT
Lighting can change quickly, especially if you are working on the go. Shooting in OM-Log mode compared to Flat maximizes the dynamic range to keep your video clean and sharp without losing details in the shadows or highlights. A new lookup table (LUT) allows you to see an image on location that is close to the color you might want your final image to look like after color grading.
120 FPS burst RAW, 50 FPS AF/AE tracking
When you are in shooting mode and need a lot of speed to capture a fast-moving subject or action in fractions of a second, rely on the OM-1. Using the silent electronic shutter, you will be able to shoot a full-resolution burst at 120 fps in RAW.
Say no to dust
Shooting in dusty, dirty environments is always a challenge. The OM-1 makes it easy. Our ultrasonic wave filter keeps the sensor clean, so your images are free from unwanted artifacts. It oscillates 30,000 times per second to instantly shake dust and dirt off the sensor to keep your images crystal clear.

After the three E-M1 (MK I/II/III) that I have purchased, I recently acquired the OM-1 and will comment on / compare it to the previous model. This camera has significant upgrades in almost every area compared to the previous one.
On the positive side:
- Fantastic AF (specifically Continuous AF) in both photo and video. I had no complaints with the E-M1.3, but here it is two levels higher. In tests in low light and motion, I often had a 100% success rate. And from the few tests with subject tracking on cats and birds, the results were again 90%+.
- Very fast operation in everything... not only in the high frame rates of 120/50 fps, but also in how it saves images and how quickly it composes the Hand Held High Resolution.
- Very good battery that reaches the limits of old DSLRs and charges quickly from a power bank during breaks from work.
- New sensor that, in my tests, gives a 1 to 1.5 stop improvement in high ISO. With the E-M1.3, the upper limit was 6400, and now with the OM1, I easily reach 12800.
- Upgraded EVF and screen with better resolution, making both more enjoyable to use.
- Better connectivity with smartphone/PC via WiFi/Bluetooth.
- Significant improvements in video with internal 10-bit and finally 4K 60p. Since I shoot reportage, I don't have the luxury of external Atomos monitors, etc.
- With the purchase, +3 years of warranty were activated, and with the additional +6 months as a gift, I have a total of 5.5 years of peace of mind from damages. Especially for professionals, this counts a lot.
In terms of things I didn't see significant improvement in because they were already fine: stabilization (it was already 7+ stops), sturdy construction, ergonomics, the weight remained the same despite the new technologies and upgrades.
I have no significant negatives to mention. I consider it the best body in the m43 system.
