What does the waterproof rating on camping tents indicate?

Did you find this review helpful?Overall, I am very satisfied with the tent because I had my expectations low. I had it set up in free camping for almost 3 months in a row. Of course, I put a light nylon tarp over it to protect it from the rain, as I do with all the tents I use. They are not waterproof after 2 hours of rain, even though they cost less than 200€. Of course, it has its problems, with the main one being the mosquito net, which is made of poor material and easily gets holes. Something that really surprised me was when I saw ants making holes in the floor of the tent and getting inside to eat some crackers I had left. My mistake for sure, but yes, the ants ate the bottom of the tent. Overall, as I said, I didn't have crazy expectations. It is a 2-season tent, and I will buy the same one again. And yes, I forgot to mention that it is HUGE! You can stand upright inside (185cm height) and easily change clothes, etc.... That's it, I think I've already written a lot!

The tent is a classic igloo with a silver color, without significant improvements from the models released twenty years ago. It has collapsible poles that are placed in an X shape, pegs, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary on one hand, and nothing innovative on the other.Positives:
1. It does its job perfectly fine. Anyone without specific requirements will not regret buying it.
2. The price is very good.
3. It is transparent.
4. It has three windows, two on the sides and one on the roof. Especially the last one helps a lot with the ventilation of hot air.
5. Its dimensions allow tall people, up to 1.90 meters, to sleep without pressure. However, not six people. In such a case, four people at most would fit without extra space for luggage. However, since there are almost always people shorter than 1.60 meters, their luggage can be placed under their feet.
6. The groundsheet is quite waterproof.
7. The entrance and exit are easy.
8. The mosquito net effectively prevents insects.
9. In the center, it is quite tall. I think a person who is 1.70 meters can stand upright. However, not 1.90 meters as stated in the instructions.
10. It is easy to set up.
11. Despite only having pegs in the four corners (two in each corner), it is stable. And this is positive for another reason: having pegs all around only creates problems.Negatives:
1. It leaks water in heavy rain. Not from the window located at the top, but from the following points:
a) from the seams or zippers of the windows
b) from the seams or zippers on the doors. This is disappointing from a company like Campus, which, after so many years in tent manufacturing, should have found a simple solution to this important camping problem.
In case of light rain, there is no problem.
2. The fabric that covers the upper window requires a particular technique to be properly installed.
3. It does not come with any helpful manual. Those who have never set up tents search on YouTube, not always finding a solution. As a result, they make mistakes. For example, many think that the silver loops next to the doors are for supporting the tent on side trees. These loops are actually for attaching the door to the button located between the door and the mosquito net. The same goes for the inner loops, they are for supporting the mosquito net. The same applies to the loops on the windows. Many also do not know how to use the black ropes. And more.
4. It has some minor imperfections. For example, in some areas, the seams are somewhat rough and frayed. Or again, in my case at least, one of the two tongues of the zipper that closes the mosquito net was missing.Conclusions:
It is a decent tent. It comfortably accommodates a family of four or a group, as long as it doesn't rain. In this case, someone must definitely put a nylon cover over the mentioned areas because it will be quite troublesome. Of course, to tell the truth, rain is always a problem in camping, even with an expensive tent.Advice: Bring gym mats with you. They are cheap, small, and very helpful.

The only thing that broke was some hooks on the top of the tent that came off immediately. (I would also prefer the outer fabric to have a zipper at the bottom). Besides that, I was very satisfied and would recommend it for someone who wants a spacious tent with little money.
Update after 3 years of use:
It is in very good condition, I am very satisfied. The zippers and screens are in place even though they have been exposed to endless air and shaking.

You can put your sleeping mattress inside and you have plenty of space to store bags, suitcases, etc. and to change standing up if needed.
