Amazing value for 1TB SSD SATA III
I didn't have any problems setting this hard drive in my computer
I recommend this for people with low budget!
For a cheap SSD, it seems okay for now. It was purchased to replace a Patriot Burst Elite that after 6-7 months had started to stutter and the HDSentinel showed a health of 36%. Let's see how long the PNY will last..
So far, flawless and very cheap... I plan to buy more if it surpasses 12 months of good operation
I installed it today on a laptop as part of a format and repair from a previous damage.
Fast installation, good response.
Everything I would expect from an SSD on a relatively old laptop.
All good.
I subtract one star because it has 12-14 (reaching 45-50 for fun) degrees more than the EVO and 10 degrees higher than the HDD and nvme. I hope in the long run there won't be any issues due to the temperature.
PNY 120GB SSD. To tell the truth, when I bought it and installed Windows 10 on my computer, I was on the internet in 8 seconds. Very good and fast. That's why I made a second purchase for an older computer that I had for the kids. At first, I was thrilled. But as soon as two years passed, both hard drives were useless. No computer recognizes them and the windows never opened. So I lost all my files and got frustrated because I didn't buy something more expensive. Whoever buys it should know that it is very good and fast, but its durability is only two years. Sorry, but I am very dissatisfied.
Recently I bought the 120R and I can say that for its price it is very good, now for its durability it will show in the future. One thing is for sure, on a 15-year-old quad-core PC it opens in just 6 seconds and it has no problems, it doesn't freeze or slow down anywhere. I highly recommend it. It's value for money...
The second laptop I found is ultimately unreliable, although it performed well for about 2 years. However, it has an expiration date.
Problem-free for 4 years now. The last 3 years on a SATA II system. For a traditional budget SSD that you intend to use as an operating system, it works great to give a breath of life to an old system. For everything else, there are now NVMe drives that outperform the more expensive and branded SATA ones.
I bought the 480GB and installed it in my PS4 (C chassis). Everything worked and installed perfectly and there were no issues.
There is an incredible difference in performance and a significant decrease in loading screens. The loading screen for Elden Ring was timed at just 7 seconds, while on the same game and loading screen, the PS5 was timed at 3 seconds.
I am completely satisfied with the result.
I am looking forward to seeing its reliability and amazing speed over time. An additional review will be made if there are any reliability issues or speed drops.
Note: It is used as the main disk where the software, games, and apps are installed.
I have had it for 2 to 3 years and I can say that it is reliable and quite fast. It was purchased to load Windows on it and besides the fact that it opens lightning fast, I noticed that some programs run faster. Any game I have loaded on this disk runs more smoothly. I highly recommend it - fast, affordable, and personally, it has held up until today without any performance differences.
I put it on an older laptop and I see a health indication of 80%. I hope it's just a wrong indication, I will examine it further. Generally, it's a medium-quality hard drive from what I see, at a low price without anything special or any software.
We used it in a build that you can see here: https://youtu.be/I9_rxqxKIbs
It has the expected performance for a SATA SSD, but not enough time has passed yet to know its reliability. We found it very positive that it comes in a box and not in blister packaging like other Budget SSDs. It is also quite attractive without any bad white/yellow/blue stickers.
If you find it for under 20 euros, don't hesitate to try it!
This particular SSD is great, I bought 2 and I use them as fast storage for applications and games on 2 different PCs. They are fast, reliable (so far), affordable, and seem to have a decent controller. Very fast access and good file transfer speed. They are recommended - maybe not as a main drive in a brand new system - but for all other tasks they are ideal. And at a good price for what they offer.
I have the 120GB on a Proxmox server with 5-6 Linux VMs for 4 months now. I am impressed for the 15-20 euros that I paid.
EDIT: 3 months later it simply died
Certainly it is not like the Samsung Evo ones, but in the 3 days that I have had it in my possession, it is flawless and the best value for money SSD you will find in this price range. In case there is any problem, I will come back with a new review.
It was installed on a 7-year-old ASUS laptop. I replaced its 1TB HDD. With its installation and the installation of Windows 10, I believe the computer's capabilities have returned to 60% of what they were before. In combination with the low voltage Patriot 8GB DDR3 and the replacement of the old thermal paste MX4 on the processor and graphics, I think the laptop will easily last another 7 years. Huge improvement for the better. With €100. Otherwise, I would have had to make a new purchase costing €600 to €700. Additionally, battery consumption has also decreased by approximately 15%.
Very good speed but it broke in less than a year, man.... Of course, this may not be so common, but it happened to me... It worked for about 8 months
I didn't expect that it would be me, but it broke in the 6th month and was replaced with a different brand within the warranty.
I bought the specific 240GB along with a Crucial BX500 240GB and an Intenso 256GB.
And they were installed in 3 identical laptops with exactly the same specifications.
In terms of speed, the PNY is the fastest of all by far.
Second is the Intenso, very close to the PNY, and third with a significant difference, I would say the BX240.
These are in terms of speed, now I need to see in terms of reliability and durability over time.
Honest and cheap. I bought it because it was ranked as the cheapest. It works fine. It's not a Samsung. If you want it for yourself, get something more powerful. If you want it for your child's laptop, it's okay.
Let the users of Scrooge continue with their accurate and trustworthy reviews! Thank you very much for the excellent product at its value and for promising the advertised speeds! It revived a 10-year-old laptop!
The day with the night the difference in performance.
Truly the first move to improve a weak machine is the installation of an SSD drive.
Quite economical SSD. At €20, it is a good price to upgrade an old laptop or a low-demand computer. It reaches the promised speeds. Its warranty is 3 years. However, if someone is building a new computer that supports m.2, it is better to consider the Kingston A2000 as it has a small price difference but a significant performance difference. Here is a build that I used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8lbp1CaX2Y
Having an opinion from using them in technical support, PNY (along with Toshiba) has proven to be the most cost-effective and reliable solution for SSDs. So far, for over 2 years, there hasn't been a single SSD from this company returned with errors, unlike Patriot, for example, which miraculously survive for over a year but lose performance as they "fill up". The important thing is stable performance in everyday use and reliability, where user experience is more important than benchmarks.
With 5 days of use, what can I say. Time will tell. For now, everything is fine. Everything was installed without any complications.
After about 1 week of use, I have to say that it is a very good and high-quality SSD. Windows open lightning fast in about 10 seconds. It is worth the money and more
Very honest and reliable disk. And very cheap at 15 euros. Also, its bigger sibling has only a 10 euro difference with double the capacity, and it's the best bang for the buck. I have bought half a dozen for boot/system disks on old machines (ideal for this use). For those who don't want to do a fresh installation and want to clone an existing system, they can download the free demo of Acronis true image. I have been using it for almost 20 years before it became popular with SSDs, and the software works wonders.
