Description

The book is a comprehensive guide to the practice and philosophy of yoga. It is particularly useful for prospective and active teachers as it focuses on intermediate and advanced level asana (postures) practices, combining them with fundamental philosophical principles. 

Initially, yogic philosophy is described, along with the basic philosophical principles of the paths of Raja and Hatha yoga. Information about the human body and the energy system is included with the aim of connecting them to practice. 

In the second section, the detailed description of the postures is accompanied by detailed images and instructions for the precise placement and alignment of the body. The names of the postures are given in Sanskrit, English, and Greek. The critical points of each posture that need attention during practice are highlighted. For each posture, the benefits, contraindications, the energy centers affected, and the various modifications that can be applied to simplify or further develop the posture are mentioned. The focus of the gaze required for the execution of the asana greatly aids in the development of concentration and the balance of body and mind, and thus it is mentioned for each asana. Finally, suggested starting and transition postures are given, meaning postures that can precede or follow the described posture, as a small sequence of positions. 

Finally, the third part describes the role of warm-up and cool-down, and includes a set of exercises with photos that will help practitioners and teachers appropriately design the beginning and end of a practice.
