Description
The Laws is the last and most extensive Platonic dialogue written towards the end of Plato's life, after his third trip to Sicily. It is the only Platonic dialogue in which Socrates does not participate. It consists of twelve books with three elderly men engaged in conversation.
The dialogue takes place in Crete and is directed and dominated by an anonymous Athenian stranger. The other two characters are the Cretan Clinias and the Spartan Megillus. The three conversational walkers are directed from Knossos to the cave and temple of Zeus, following the path of King and legislator of Crete, Minos, who meets his father Zeus, an advisor in his legislative work.
In this dialogue, Plato formulates specific rules of public and private law!
"The Laws of Plato" in hardcover, luxurious edition, which includes the ancient text, modern Greek translation, and commentary, consists of 2 volumes!
