Description

The poppy seeds from Rhodes Nuts Bardopoulos have a mild flavor and many nutrients for the body. They are often sprinkled on bagels, breads, and pretzels, adding a delicious and crunchy touch. These seeds come from the opium poppy flower (which belongs to the Papaveraceae family), the same flower used for morphine production.

Benefits

  • They contain many phytochemicals that have been found to have antioxidant action.
  • Rich in fatty acids and essential volatile oils which make up about 50% of their net weight. The seeds are particularly rich in oleic and linoleic acids.
  • The outer husk of poppy seeds is a good source of dietary fiber.
  • Additionally, dietary fibers bind bile salts (a product of cholesterol) and reduce their reabsorption in the colon. Thus, they contribute to a further reduction in LDL cholesterol levels in the blood.
  • They are a rich source of B-complex vitamins such as thiamine, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, riboflavin, niacin, and folic acid.
  • Poppy seeds contain satisfactory amounts of minerals such as iron, copper, calcium, potassium, manganese, zinc, and magnesium.
  • Dried poppy seeds contain very low levels of opium alkaloids such as morphine, thebaine, codeine, papaverine, etc.
  • If you suffer from insomnia or fatigue, poppy seed milk extract mixed with sugar is a very good way to combat these problems as poppy seeds contain compounds that help in the production of neurotransmitters.
  • Calcium, along with phosphorus, plays an important role in improving bone health. Poppy seeds also contain manganese which is known to help in the production of collagen, the protein that protects bones.
  • A common cause of a weakened immune system is zinc deficiency in the body. Consuming poppy seeds, which are rich in zinc, helps in boosting the immune system.

This review is about the weight: 1000 gr

Very GOOD quality and unbelievable prices. I use a lot of poppy seeds in my cooking/baking and used to buy jars from the supermarket at a very expensive price. I bought 1 kilogram, excellent quality.
