Imilab EC4 IP Camera
Introducing the new and improved IP EC4 camera from IMILAB. It is the successor to the popular EC2 model and is called IMILAB EC4. The new model features 4 MPx recording, 2.5K resolution, also supports color night mode, and allows for solar panel connection.
2.5K Video and Many Enhancements
The new IMILAB EC4 camera includes several improvements that should eliminate the problems of older cameras such as delayed recording and poor-quality video at night. The camera is 4 MPx, has an F1.6 aperture, and records in 2.5K resolution. The IMILAB EC4 features a more modern design, slightly larger battery capacity, improved microphone and speaker, and LED lighting.
Color Night Vision and Solar Panel
The IMILAB EC4 also supports color night mode. The LED lighting on the front is immediately activated when the camera detects movement at night, or you can activate it manually. In addition to the standard black and white night video, you also have the option to receive color video in complete darkness. One of the best improvements is definitely the support for solar panels (purchased separately). It can charge your camera, so you don't need to charge it from the grid. The solar panel has a metal frame, mounts on the wall, and is an optional accessory.
Notifications and application options
The wireless IMILAB EC4 camera will notify you as soon as it detects movement in your field of view. The EC4 works with the IMILAB app, which will notify you of movement in front of the camera with standard notifications. In the app, you can set the duration of the video you want the camera to record when motion is detected. The maximum duration of such a video is 60 seconds. The video can be uploaded to the cloud or stored on a microSD card. The maximum supported capacity is 64 GB.
Two-way audio, detection zones, and alarms
TheEC4 has a speaker at the back and a microphone at the front, therefore there is support for two-way audio. The IP66 certification ensures uninterrupted operation even in bad weather conditions. The support for the so-called detection zone is interesting. In the image, you can highlight 4 zones that my camera monitors. If it detects movement in one of these zones, it will immediately notify you with an alert or even a loud alarm.

After 1.5 years of having 2 of these cameras, I have the following to say.
Positives
They always maintain their connection with the central Hub.
They withstand rain, humidity, and cold (Aegean island). They have endured many heavy rains.
They do not always need a power supply. The battery lasts on average about a month.
There is an app for mobile (Android & iOS) and for computers (Windows & Mac).
There is the option to insert a MicroSD card into the Hub so that all videos can be stored there without having to pay a subscription for the camera.
For the more tech-savvy, there is also the option to connect to a NAS Drive.
Overall, it is a package of a quick and inexpensive solution.
Negatives
The app is not the best available. It needs many improvements.
The cameras ideally need to have a power supply. Whether it is a small solar panel or a plug.
I mention this because over time the battery loses its overall capacity, and combined with being placed in a location where people pass by very frequently and have many recordings daily, the battery lasts even shorter.
Unfortunately, I have been extremely disappointed with the recordings. At first, it indeed captured everything from people, but unfortunately, it now captures much less.
I no longer have any confidence that it will record someone who passes in front of the camera.
In extremely rare cases, it records large animals. Unfortunately, I would like it to capture smaller movements, such as a cat or a person further away.
I do not recommend it at all. With this money or even a little more, you can get a set of cameras with a recording device and do a far better job.
At some point, they will be replaced with something better.
It has a nice image but it only works with the imilab app, while the previous model EC3 plays in xiaomi home. I was disappointed because I wanted to have all the cameras in xiaomi home that I have and other sensors. Never mind, I'll connect it to Alexa. Oh no. I connected it but their Alexa skill is useless. It doesn't open the camera. "Hmm.. the camera isn't responding". Shame about the 100€.
update: After about 3 months of use, it disconnected from the network and won't reconnect with anything.
update 2: I tried pairing it from another device and it reconnected. Very good as a device, lousy software.
4 weeks of battery life. Automatically stores in the cloud, if you pay. The highest security in case someone takes the camera and breaks into the house. Notification comes in one minute if a person is detected in the camera's area. I have installed another camera, the same model but I have to pay again for its cloud. The camera only matches with the receiver of the same model. Expensive choice but reliable and cutting-edge technology. You can match up to 4 cameras of the same model. Clear image up to 4 meters at night. Recommended...
Very easy installation, tremendous range, very stable, didn't need a restart or reconnection in the month that I have it. Basically, you put it somewhere and forget about it, you only need to reconnect it for charging. The human detection is flawless, it has never missed a person. However, be aware that it has a small lag of about 2 seconds from the moment it detects until it starts recording. So it's not suitable for covering a small passage (e.g. it's not suitable for a hallway where someone will pass momentarily). It needs to be positioned in a way that it has the person in its frame for several seconds. I have placed it in the corner of a large garden, it works very well. Recommended.
Edit
After some time, I am forced to give it a low rating. The notifications are completely unreliable. Usually, they come after 2 minutes, but often they come after 15 or even 20 minutes. It no longer makes sense to place them. I am considering replacing them, I have bought 2.
Good image quality, stable signal, and communication with the Hub. The range from the hub needs improvement and, of course, a decrease in price. The battery life is very good, at least 2 months with several visits for monitoring and deactivating the night light feature it has
Excellent camera, it does exactly what its specifications say. Very good AI in face recognition, good resolution, and battery that lasts for months. Highly recommended
What do you want from a wireless camera with a battery?
To have a long battery life. It performs very well (4-5 activations per day).
To always activate when it detects motion. 70% success rate.
To not lose connection. It doesn't lose connection.
To always notify you in a timely manner. It doesn't always do it and not always timely.
To have good clarity day and night. It has.
To connect at any time and see live. It doesn't always do it.
All of this with a 24-hour connection and a good WiFi signal.
update
It is performing better in notifications now and in retrigger, which previously simply didn't work.
