Very good machine, beautiful appearance, needs attention to wash the filters well because the holes are very fine and clog.
With a good grinder and high-quality espresso, the machine makes coffee worthy of a good café. It heats up very quickly, the pressure is always the same and does not rise too much to burn the coffee, the froth - for those who know how to properly work the steam - comes out as it should, thick and glossy. We have had it since January and we make around 5-6 coffees daily. It has never disappointed us!
I believe that for home use it is a very good choice. Personally, my wife and I want to drink a good espresso at home and this machine covers us. We use coffee from the market (Dimelo). It has been in our possession for 2 months and we are very satisfied. Purchase at 119€.
update: After 2 years it works perfectly, I consider it one of the best purchases I have made. If you experiment with coffee varieties, the result will leave you very satisfied. It makes 3 to 4 coffees daily for 2 years and something.
The machine was purchased in October, and no matter what I tried, I couldn't make a decent coffee. Usually, the coffee came out bitter and burnt with a terrible taste. I tried different portafilters with no result. After five months, it broke down, and the milk frother mechanism was also faulty. Overall, I believe it is a machine that is not worth buying because you can't enjoy a good cup of coffee, even if you compare it to a machine from a well-known supermarket that makes much better coffee and froth.
Update: On May 31, 2022, the machine stopped producing steam for frothing, and there is just a noise as if something is leaking. It will need to be sent back for repair. I am disappointed because it has made a maximum of 100 coffees.
Return from service: They probably sent me another machine that is in terrible condition, very used, and they wrote on the receipt that it was dirty due to use, while I delivered the machine as if it had just come out of the box since it was minimally used
After 2 months of daily use:
It heats up very quickly.
The pressure, amount of coffee, and temperature are controlled by the coffee machine and are always consistent.
The milk frother has moderate quality. But the quality is the same as the corresponding machines from Delonghi and better than Gaggia. However, it makes more noise than similar machines from other brands.
It is worth every penny so far
I had a well-known brand that had problems, so I resorted to researching the 790! Real surprise, perfect in all parameters! I don't know how long it will last, but the coffee I drink (Mrs Rose) is even better than the best coffee! Perfect purchase!
It seems to be a quality construction with a nice "stainless steel-like" finish. The closure is not made of stainless steel, but of anodized aluminum (be careful, it cannot be put in the dishwasher). The 51mm baskets are quite loose inside the closure and require attention as they come in and out very easily. The double basket holds 16g of coffee and the single basket holds around 9g. The coffee comes out flavorful but without much body, and instead of crema, it produces foam, which is common with pressurized baskets (double-walled). The coffee I used was premium espresso from a well-known chain, ground from 1.8 to 2.3 depending on the variety. The extraction is relatively fast (around 15-20 seconds for the double) even with the mentioned grind. If you go for a finer grind, the machine gets clogged and there is a risk of the coffee splashing out, as happened to me when I was experimenting with different grinds. If you replace the basket with a non-pressurized one (single-walled), you will get slightly better results in terms of crema, as long as you adjust the extraction time and grind size again, but the temperature instability due to the thermoblock and the excessive pump pressure due to the lack of an OPV (it reached up to 15 bar) leave little room for improvement. And you will definitely need a good espresso grinder for optimal results. With a Cunill grinder (with 60mm flat burrs) and non-pressurized baskets from Graef, I managed to achieve very good results. After countless experiments, I ended up grinding the coffee in a way that I had 8-9 bars on the pressure gauge to achieve the correct extraction times and the desired flavor. And all this with a dose of 14-16g of coffee. If you use more grams, you will have unpleasant acidity and the coffee won't be enjoyable. Overall, I was satisfied with the quality of the coffee it produces, and for this price, I don't think there is anything better. The steam wand performs relatively well if you remove the panarello. It is relatively quiet as a machine and doesn't vibrate the entire countertop, like other machines of this type. For those who don't have high demands for their coffee or are tired of capsule machines, it is a decent solution. It is definitely worth buying for this price, hence the 4 stars. Lastly, I want to mention that the machine is OEM (meaning it is a generic product) and can be found on the market under different brand names, such as MPM or HKoenig, for example. In Germany, it is sold under the Severin and AEG brands, and soon in Greece as well. They are all essentially the same with minor differences in water and descaling settings. Just choose the one that fits your budget.
