The Kingston Fury Impact DDR4 RAM is aimed at demanding computer users, such as gamers, professionals in video and image editing, designers, and those who require high performance from their laptop or mini PC.

DDR4

DDR4 is the fourth generation of RAM technology for computers. It replaces DDR3 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 2133MT/s to 4800MT/s, latency (CAS Latency) from CL 9 to CL 22, while its capacity has increased up to 32GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger the size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for latency (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics must be compatible with the specifications of our motherboard.

The Kingston Fury Impact provides speed at 3200MT/s, with CL20 and 32GB per memory module.

Compatibility

DDR4 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Indicatively, DDR4 is compatible with Intel Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake series processors and the latest Intel processors, as well as AMD Ryzen and Threadripper series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to ensure that your motherboard supports DDR4 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

XMP & EXPO is a technology that allows us to increase the frequency and performance of our computer's memory without the need for manual adjustments. (XMP/EXPO) is easily activated from the BIOS, is available on certain RAM memories, and is supported by certain motherboards.

The Kingston Fury Impact DDR4 RAM has (XMP 2.0) profiles with performances:

  • Speed (XMP 2.0): 3200 MT/s
  • CAS Latency (XMP 2.0): 20-22-22
  • Voltage (XMP 2.0): 1.2V

Cooling & Design

The construction materials combined with the low operating voltage help keep the memory at a fairly low temperature even during the most demanding operations.

    The laptop came with a small hard drive and 16GB RAM. If you check for compatibility, it will show a max of 32GB, but 64GB works perfectly fine.

    At 2K resolution, 57-60fps in Cyberpunk 2077, low ray tracing settings. Before the RAM upgrade, the computer would just freeze.

    Keep in mind, the first time you install them, it will take some time to adjust(1-2 minutes), so don't be scared if you see just a black screen for said time (as I did lol)

    I have the Asus ROG G733QR (17.3" Ryzen 9 5900HX, 16GB, RTX 3070) but I replaced the 16GB RAM with these 32GB ones. In regards to our topic, I got them purely for gaming in order to reach the maximum performance of my laptop. They installed and worked straight away without any issues (ready n' play). I haven't done benchmarks yet, but according to related videos on YouTube, I will see a significant increase. I tested 3 games as examples in benchmarks (Red Dead Redemption 2 ultra settings "see image", Rome 2 Total War 57.4-->57.8, Forza Horizon 5 extreme settings + DLSS quality 90-->115)!!!

    I have an Asus Strix G15 Advantage Edition and some of them have slow RAM, so I decided to replace it with the one that is also the fastest and compatible with this laptop. When I opened it, I was lucky and had the fastest RAM that the laptop comes with, and I didn't expect the new one to make a difference. In Forza Horizon 5, with all graphics set to maximum at 3440x1440p resolution, the FPS with the original RAM was around 40-45, but with this new RAM, it increased to 50-55 FPS.
