Description
Fava comes from the legume known as lentil. Lentil is considered one of the first legumes cultivated by humans, with roots in ancient times. It is more digestible than other legumes and has high nutritional value.
It is rich in proteins, carbohydrates, and dietary fiber. It is also a very good source of B vitamins, iron, copper, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and folic acid, while being low in fats and cholesterol.
Fava is a Mediterranean delicacy and during fasting periods, it is the ideal substitute for meat.
Fava Recipe Biovlastos:
- 500g Biovlastos fava
- 2 onions
- 1½ liters of water
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- thyme
- salt
INSTRUCTIONS:
Place the fava in a bowl and cover it with water. Let it soak for 30 minutes. Drain it. Heat the oil in a thick-bottomed saucepan. Over medium heat, cook the chopped onions with the thyme for 7-8 minutes until they become translucent and soften. Add the fava.
