Since it outputs video (in this case HDMI), you need to ensure that your laptop or, less commonly, your desktop supports video through the Type C port. Even if the laptop specifications mention DisplayPort on the Type C port, it generally supports video, and thus the HDMI of this particular docking station. Personally, I am very satisfied with it because it does not require external power, is compact, and has several useful ports. It is also quite affordable for what it offers. I should note that my laptop is not one of €1500 but rather €600, so you just need to make sure you check the laptop specifications before purchasing because there are many docking stations that could be useful to you, which otherwise would be useless. Additionally, I personally have a second TP Link USB 3.0 7 port hub with external power, so I am fully covered.

  This specific hub was purchased for the MacBook Air M2, mainly for its HDMI functionality for connecting to an external monitor. The product is very high quality with a nice design and quite sturdy. It has the appropriate size and is very lightweight. However, the issue I have encountered is that every time I connect it to an external monitor, the hub actually overheats and raises the temperature in the first 5 minutes. I don't know if this is normal because I haven't used an external hub before, but in general, the temperatures are concerning without yet causing any issues in signal transmission or the laptop itself. Additionally, when I connect it, the Mac's battery drains twice as fast, which is definitely due to using the external monitor, but perhaps the temperature of the hub also plays a role. I will come back in the future for possible problems.

  I bought it for a more affordable price (30€) compared to other ones of the 70-90 range for home use.
  I use it with a MacBook Air m1.
  It has a 4k screen with HDMI, an Ethernet cable for stable connection, charging, and a few USB-A ports, and it's a perfect package.

  It heats up a bit, but that's expected.
