The AirTag is an incredibly easy way to track your belongings. Attach one to your keys and another to your backpack. And just like that, you can find them in the Find My app, where you can also track your Apple devices and locate friends and family.
A "ping" and you found it
Lost your wallet? If you have connected the AirTag, no problem. You can play a sound on the built-in speaker from the new Items tab in the Find My app. If it's hidden somewhere nearby—like under the couch or in the next room—just follow the sound and find it.
Cold. Lukewarm. Warm. Hot.
If your AirTag is nearby, your iPhone will lead you directly to it with Precision Finding. You'll see the distance to your AirTag and directions to locate it, all thanks to Ultra Wideband technology.
Ask for a little help from hundreds of millions of friends.
When you've forgotten something far away, like at the beach or the gym, the Find My network, which consists of hundreds of millions of iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices worldwide, helps you locate your AirTag. And of course, it's designed to protect your privacy every step of the way.
With the loss function, you can find lost items even more easily.
Like other Apple devices, the AirTag can be put into lost mode. Then, when detected by a device on the network, you will automatically receive a notification. You can also set it up so that someone can receive your contact information by tapping your AirTag with an NFC-enabled smartphone. This is the same technology that allows users to make payments with their phones.
Built-in privacy.
Only you can see where your AirTag is. Location data and history are never stored on the AirTag. The devices that transmit the location of your AirTag also remain anonymous, and location data is encrypted at every step. So even Apple doesn't know the location of your AirTag or the identity of the device that helps you find it.
Wonderfully simple.
Setting up with a simple touch instantly connects the AirTag to your iPhone or iPad. Give your AirTag a name, attach it to the item you want to track, and you're ready. Want to receive AirTag notifications on your Apple Watch as well? No problem.

I will only tell a very short story:
Owner of an SH Mode scooter, the bike parked outside my house, without a chain, without any protection at all, and on September 21, 2023, at noon, I went to get it and it wasn't there. Luckily, I had placed an AirTag under the seat and when I checked Find My, I located it in Agios Dimitrios (I live in Paleo Faliro). I went to the location where it had last been detected, walked around searching, and found it parked outside a house, with a deviation of 50 meters from the location it showed me on Find My. I called the police, they came, confirmed that it was indeed mine, I explained how I located it, and at that moment, all 4 police officers ordered their own AirTags too!!! We retrieved the scooter, made a report at the police station, and returned home!
Sorry for the length of the text, but the narrative was meant to show how a €30 item saved my property. I was very lucky that they didn't open the seat to see it and throw it away, but without it, I would have never found the scooter.
Whether it's worth buying, I leave it up to your judgment.
If you are getting it to find your stolen car, forget it. The thief is notified on their phone that an airtag is moving alongside them, they can make it emit a sound and find it, and they can turn off the bluetooth. And it’s an expensive product to have just to find your keys if you forget them somewhere and ONLY IF someone with an iPhone passes by. Other than that, it’s a good product. They started well from what I read, but because thieves were hiding them in cars to track them, the notification was added so that the owner can detect that their car is being monitored by an unknown airtag. We are not saved.)
To help a bit, in simple words, it is not ideal for locating a dog, cat, etc., because the animal is constantly moving and this does not have immediate location transmission; it takes time to give you a signal, and by the time this happens, the animal has gone elsewhere.
-Product meets expectations.
-Keep in mind that the battery lasts 1y.
-Battery type is CR2032 lithium 3V, which is really cheap (€1,89) and it is available at most electronic and drug stores.
-Battery replacement very easy.
Extremely helpful. Great battery life. Excellent compatibility when it detects a nearby Apple device. From finding keys to an anti-theft device for the car
How can you say a tracking product at €30+ is good when you can't find what you want in the city unless an iPhone passes nearby? Not everything is central during peak hours. In a densely populated area of downtown Athens at 6 PM, for example, it takes time and luck to get a signal… bad!
4 stars because the GPS is almost precise, e.g. I bought it to find the car I parked (because I live in a central area of Athens and park in different places each time) but it still takes a while to sync and I end up searching in the next street from where it actually is
The construction is honest and seems quite quality. I have had it for almost a month and so far it works steadily and exactly as described. However, it didn't excite me as much as I expected. The main reason is that it relies solely on Apple devices for tracking. If the item is in a remote location without nearby Apple devices, detection becomes difficult.
To be fair, the AirTag does exactly what it promises. The mistake was mine for not researching it better before purchasing. I mention this for those considering getting it, so they know what to expect and don't rush like I did. If you are already in the Apple ecosystem, then it will serve you perfectly.
Unfortunately, the most useless product from Apple... I used it both in a suitcase and in the car. The refresh-location of the respective item happens on average every 30 minutes. The story that as soon as it is next to an iPhone it gives a signal is absolute inaccuracy. At the airport where there could be a thousand iPhones, the signal came every 20 minutes. On the car journey, while the car was parked at the end of the route, it showed that it was still at home (the car owner had an iPhone, by the way)... So you lose the suitcase and have already taken the next flight, or your car gets stolen and has already been turned into spare parts... Scam, stay away..
One of the best purchases I have made.
I have connected everyone's keys in the family because we kept losing them.
Instant connection with iPhone - I don't know how or if it works with Android. Beautiful and lightweight with many very cheap solutions for keychains.
Before you insert the battery, check online for ways to remove the speaker so that it doesn't sound in case the thief receives a notification that you have an airtag. Otherwise, it is exactly as everyone describes above. Perfect.
I got it for traveling. It doesn't work anywhere whether you have it in a suitcase or in a bag if it goes inside a car or somewhere that doesn't have a good signal and it tells you it was located an hour ago, for example. It only works if it goes outside on the road or if you are very close to it. Useless, in other words, if someone happens to steal what you have placed the AirTag on
Really the best there is in tracking systems. You put in the battery, place it, and just watch what object is on the map. I have put it in both my cars and I sleep peacefully. It's worth the money. I'm thinking of getting 4 more!!
If you are an iPhone user and travel a lot, this is a must. It recently saved me when a suitcase that had lost connection abroad was delivered to the wrong address, and I saw it and went and found it. With how bad airlines have become regarding luggage, it is an essential accessory.
It's nonsense, we have put it on my dog's collar. It has left the house 3 times and we searched for it all over the village. Always with the phone open to show me its location, but nothing, it was useless, it just showed me where it was a long time ago. Sometimes, it's not even 5 meters away from me and it still says searching for signal, and this while my dog is RIGHT IN FRONT of me and I can see it. It doesn't always show the location, nor does it show it moving. It would have been very useful when my dog ran away, just to open it and see where it was walking at that moment, but no. Wasted money down the drain
Those of you who write that it doesn't have a great range probably don't understand how the AirTag works exactly…. On a recent trip to Korea, at every layover I had (which were quite a few), I could see exactly where my suitcases were…. Excellent!!
I have had it for 2+ years for my keys. It does its job very well even though it is a bit pricey. Personally, I don't give it 5 stars because its sound is not loud, which will make it difficult for people like me who have hearing issues (for example, when you can't find your item at home. Of course, in this case, if you have a later iPhone, you can find it more easily with your phone. I can't remember what it's called, I believe it's precision finding or something like that, but it shows you an arrow on your phone's screen and you find it directly).
Very expensive for what it offers. The price would be reasonable at 15, at most 20 euros; 33 euros is simply a scam in my opinion.
On the other hand, it solves a very specific problem, and for that, it gets a full 3 stars. I connected it with an iPhone 13, put it in a Spigen case, and have had it on my keys for the past 2 days. I will return with any updates.
Update 19/8/2024 (5 days of use): Its accuracy is not 1-5 meters but 15-20 meters. When I open Find My, it shows me two numbers back on my street, e.g., instead of Μαυρομιχάλη 36-38, it shows Μαυρομιχάλη 35, literally in the adjacent or often across the street building. I don't know how feasible it would be to find something lost among many buildings or worse, buildings with offices and apartments (center of Piraeus). Disappointing partly for the use I wanted it for, but mainly for the money it costs.
- How does the Air Tag work? It sends a signal via Bluetooth to any iPhone within a few meters, and through Apple's network, it communicates with your iPhone so you can see where the lost item is.
- It is not a theft prevention device, and Apple emphasizes this constantly. The Air Tags were created for the loss of our items, for example, I can't find my motorcycle keys or my wallet. There, precisely, combined with the low-intensity sound emitted by the device, we find the item. Only as a last resort/emergency solution can it be used as a theft prevention device. I have one hidden in my bag, recognizing that it may not help me much.
- If someone without a phone takes your item and does not encounter an iPhone nearby, you will never know where that item is. This is the limitation of the Air Tags, which is why they don't require a subscription and the battery lasts so long. Therefore, if you go for a walk with your dog in nature and it gets lost, you will never find it unless someone with an iPhone encounters it.
- In two tests of moving the Air Tag far from me, the updates came with significant delays, and when I asked the user if they were at the tagged location, they were always quite far away. I want to say it is not a GPS tracker, and its use is purely for if you have misplaced something.
- Due to its use by stalkers, if someone has an iPhone and has your item with the Air Tag, they will receive a notification on their iPhone about the presence of an Air Tag nearby. Let me say it once more, IT IS NOT A THEFT PREVENTION DEVICE. If you want to protect your vehicle, look for a GPS tracker, for example, Moni Moto.
Excellent accuracy and immediacy from the iPhone, without the need for an extra application (the iPhone's "Find" is enough), but the downside is that it did not mention the range. I did not measure it but it is small, a few meters
