With an RX 6700 XT that I have paired it with, it has huge headroom ahead of it to reach a bottleneck.
Keeping the factory power limits, the consumption is okay. However, there is also the option to raise them. I raised all the power limits to 125w and with the CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Spectrum V2, which I bought for 16 euros on the 10th of 2022, at a room temperature of 21 degrees I have perfectly acceptable temperatures on prime95, one of the hardest stress tests out there, and max consumption around 120w. And of course, I noticed an impressive difference in Cinebench.
As always, the i5 is a cost-effective solution to set up a decent machine for any kind of use.

A quite good processor for gaming, the 6 cores will not be enough in the near future but at the moment it does its job just fine. I recommend it to anyone who wants to play games.

Very good processor for its cost. Quite customizable, although "locked". Of course, it also needs a decent graphics card to showcase its capabilities, but even with an RX 570, it performs quite well. However, what impressed me the most was its thermal behavior and its ability to operate smoothly even with low power schemes.
The use I make of the pc is mainly for gaming, the processor performs very well in combination with an RX 6600XT that I have. It has also been tested with an RTX 3070ti and I can say that I did not expect this result, that is, to have no bottleneck anywhere. Very satisfied with the purchase, I just give it 4 stars because the cooler that comes with it is terrible. It is necessary to install a different aftermarket cooler, I got the be quiet pure slim rock 2 and finally the temperatures and noise.

In its category and for its price, it's truly a one-way street! I wouldn't recommend anyone to go for the 12400 as their differences are minimal. It's paired with 16gb of 3200mhz RAM and a 2060 super. I haven't encountered any bottleneck, absolutely no lag anywhere (games, multitasking, etc.) it runs everything and more!! Temperatures with the stock cooler (quiet) are very good, even after many hours of gaming. The experience is truly unique. :)
Excellent for gaming. In all other aspects, AMD is better, but personally I am only interested in gaming. Bought for 116, it is worth it and more.

The processor is a BEAST. Low temperatures, incredible multitasking. For a value-for-money gaming PC, it will definitely be the number one choice for at least another couple of years.
I have had it for about a year now on an ASROCK B560M PRO4 MATX motherboard and CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX 16GB DUAL CHANNEL 2666MHZ memory. I am quite satisfied with this processor. (POSITIVES/NEGATIVES are a bit below)
POSITIVES:
1. Good performance (meaning games and Blender for 3D rendering don't lag) I generally don't push it to 100% because I play relatively lightweight games. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: THIS PROCESSOR (with default settings) OPERATES AT 65W BUT IT CAN BE SET TO GO UP TO 120W IN THE MOTHERBOARD BIOS AND YOU GAIN MUCH MORE PERFORMANCE. WARNING: THE STOCK INTEL COOLER CANNOT COOL IT AT 120W, SO BUY ONE FOR 25-40 € BEFORE DOING THAT.
2. Stability, it has not crashed on me once. (Except for one time when it wasn't the processor's fault but a problematic RAM kit I had. Luckily, after I changed it to Corsair LPX, it works fine.)
3. Temperature, this processor does not get too hot, so you don't need an overly powerful cooler. (For a cooler, I would recommend a good one for 25-40 €.)
4. Value for money. Now with the 12th generation Intel processors, it's not worth it because there is the i3 12100f (WHICH IS GREAT FOR ITS PRICE), but if you want 6 cores and don't want to spend 200+ € on the i5 12400f, then I would recommend it.
5. Compatibility. This processor can be used with b560, b460, etc. motherboards. (Check the specifications before purchasing) (ATTENTION: IF YOU USE IT WITH A B460 MOTHERBOARD, IT WILL NOT HAVE PCIE GEN 4.0 CAPABILITY, BUT IT'S NOT THAT BAD IF YOU'RE NOT USING AN EXTREMELY FAST M.2 SSD OR GRAPHICS CARD) For RAM, I would recommend 16GB at 3200mhz CL 16 dual channel if you have the money (around 70€), or a more budget option would be 16GB 2666mhz CL 16 dual channel (around 60€) (This processor doesn't suffer much from single channel slow RAM unlike AMD, but a good RAM kit gives a bit more performance and I think it's worth it) For graphics cards, I would go up to an RTX 3070 at most, otherwise, you lose performance. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: THIS PROCESSOR DOES NOT HAVE INTEGRATED GRAPHICS, SO YOU NEED TO INSTALL A GRAPHICS CARD TO HAVE DISPLAY.
NEGATIVES:
1. STOCK COOLER. The Intel stock cooler is garbage compared to AMD's. It's really loud. (Get another cooler for 25-40 € and your ears will thank you.)
2. Overclocking, I generally believe that overclocking is not worth it now because processors are already quite fast, but for those who are into it, this one has "<f>" at the end of its name, which means it cannot be overclocked. Something you can do for more performance is to set it to run at 120W, but with a different cooler because the stock one is bad.
That's all I have to say about the i5 11400f. I think it was a good value for money, but now just get the 12th generation Intel processors because they are MUCH better. I only recommend it if you need 6 cores and don't want to spend 200+ € on the i5 12400f. I will add an "EDIT" if I change my mind about something, I hope my review helped you with your purchase :)
Excellent processor for home and gaming use. Purchased for 140 Euros, absolute value for money. Combined with a B560m Aorus Elite and 16 GB Ripjaws G.Skill. I read about the stock cooler but didn't believe it would make so much noise. So far, however, I have no temperature issues.
1) Install it on a B560 Chipset motherboard. For example, Gigabyte B560M DS3H V2.
2) It needs a better cooler. For example, Arctic Freezer 34
A very good processor for its price. When combined with a B560 (or better) motherboard, it is compatible with RAM up to 3200MHz and PCIe 4.0.
It is recommended for budget systems capable of handling even very powerful graphics cards and with excellent performance in everyday tasks.
I paired it with an MSI B560M-A PRO motherboard and a G.Skill Aegis 32GB 3200MHz kit.
My recommendation, if you are building a new system, is to now prefer 12th generation Intel, since motherboards for 12th generation processors have fallen to reasonable levels.
An amazing processor with a low cost compared to Ryzen 5 processors (obviously there is a shortage at the moment). It is slightly better than the Ryzen 5 3600, significantly lower than the 5600X, and unfortunately falls behind in applications that require a lot of cache (such as video editing). It works great for gaming and does not bottleneck powerful graphics cards. It has a TDP of 65W, but if you go into your motherboard's BIOS, you can unlock it. The major downside is its cooler, which is very noisy and supports up to 65W TDP. Personally, I didn't try it, but if you search for reviews on YouTube, you'll see that it can reach up to 50db of noise. I went and spent an extra €20 to get the Be quiet! Pure rock slim 2. I put it on a B560 motherboard and it works perfectly.
Value for money (I found it for 175). Very good for any work and games. The difference with the Ryzen 5 2600X I had before is noticeable. Just the "F" version doesn't have an integrated graphics card (Intel) for simple use. I didn't need it, I have an RX 570. I just had to enable CSM from the motherboard BIOS to play. Also, be careful with the motherboard you will use, because some models don't support the 11th generation (e.g. H410, B460, etc.).

I bought this processor 2 days ago for 165 euros and I believe I have a very comprehensive opinion. It was compared to the 10400f, which is about 40 euros cheaper. Its performance is about 6% better than the 10400f, which is priced at 120 euros, and I consider it much more worth it. The 11400f is better in multitasking as well as in editing. In gaming, they are about the same, but again, the 10400f, which is 40 euros cheaper, is a much better choice. In terms of temperatures, it is very good even with the stock cooler.
Performance in gaming with a 3060 ti:
Fortnite maxed out 1080p stable at 165 fps
Valorant maxed out 1440p stable at 200 fps
GTA V story mode 1080p fxaa x8 msaa x2 very high, approximately 80 to 100 fps
GTA V RP very high 1080p, 70-110 fps
