I didn't use it in a car but for upgrading a vintage portable Panasonic radio cassette player that I use very often, with detachable speakers that had and still have excellent performance for their size, but its built-in amplifier was only 2X7.5 WRMS at 3 Ohm with 40-year-old technology. The size of the ETON amplifier is ideal for me to fit it in the back without too many wires, and thus I got a high-level signal from the output of the portable's speakers. I powered it with a 12-volt 15-amp power supply. The sound afterwards is incomparable to before in terms of high frequency resolution, volume, and low frequencies. The difference is incredible, and I declare myself fully satisfied. I don't know what happens in a car system, but in my case, the upgrade fit perfectly and was exactly what I wanted. I have set the gain to very low levels, and I have adjusted the HPF to cut off the very low frequencies that cannot be produced by these speakers anyway, and if I left them free, I could also damage the speakers on on/off. Of course, I don't dare to increase the volume above 50% because it can easily burn the incredibly performing full-range speakers of the former Matsushita (Panasonic), and of course, that was not the goal from the beginning. The goal was to have clear sound with a wide frequency response and loud volumes without needing to strain the built-in amplifier and cause clipping! The only disadvantage I noticed is the interference on the portable's FM receiver, resulting in poorer FM radio reception, due to the fact that the ETON amplifier is class D, and therefore some interference at FM frequencies is expected. When I find a solution to this problem, I will mention it. For now, 5 stars for this little "bomb" from ETON...!!!!
Update 22/1/2025
The solution to the FM receiver interference was to put Ferrite clamps on each cable going to or coming from the amplifier. The interference on FM has almost disappeared. I don't see any other solution to this issue, unless the amplifier and wiring are completely removed from the radio antenna, which was not practical for me. It seems that through these cables, radio frequencies are emitted that cause interference in the FM band, which is probably insignificant in a car where the position usually is far from the radio receiver's antenna, but if this happens, however, the ferrites (google it if you don't know what it is) do the job!Translated from Greek ·- Sound quality
