Clearly, it is not a top-notch tablet. However, after the latest major software update, it works much better than before. Specifically... The TB-X306X, which this review refers to, can run on both Android 10 and Android 11 with parallel updates. In my case, I purchased it in February '21 and it was running on version 10. Everything was fine except for a quite serious bug that disabled the scheduled automatic shutdown/restart feature of the device after each successful implementation of this specific characteristic. Then, around the beginning of summer '21, the first major software update to version 11 arrived via OTA. Big mistake! It solved one problem (the aforementioned one) and created 5 new ones! Then, other updates followed, always on Android 11. Each one solved a certain problem, but none provided a complete solution.
So, I searched to find if there is a PC connection suite for the computer. And indeed, there is the RSA PC SUITE TOOL. I connect the tablet to perform a software reset. There are 2 versions available. The HW CODE 21 (ANDROID 10) & HW CODE 22 (ANDROID 11). I try the second one and it displays a boot screen with a warning for DM-VERITY CORRUPTION. (for those who don't know, this basically prevents the device from starting up correctly).
So, I flash again the first option to return to version 10 with the known and only bug. Better to have that than to struggle with version 11. No dm-verity or anything else except for the permanent notification for an upgrade to version 11, which I provocatively ignored.
With all this, we reach April '22... I say, let's try the computer application again, maybe there's something new. And there it is, the upgrade appears simultaneously for both codes. Of course, for version 11, it starts with the designation TB-X306 "F" instead of "X" at the end, which refers to the WiFi-only device version. So, I didn't even dare to think about flashing this firmware - UPDATE! the issue with the file name was fixed, but I won't do any more experiments. I chose version 10 again. And there was light! The old bug was fixed and now the machine works like clockwork! Now it truly is a fully functional tool, after first giving me a hard time. It also doesn't display an upgrade notification to version 11, which means that we are covered in terms of software security issues from Google! And after writing this novel, which I hope will help someone in a similar situation, goodnight.
UPDATE!
After updating the RSA application for Windows, I see that the option to choose between upgrading to Android 10 or 11 has been removed. I assume that the last option remains, but I haven't checked it because I won't do any more tests.
P.S. For people facing issues with the lack of basic system applications...
- The File manager, although it exists, doesn't have a shortcut icon for easy access. This can be easily solved by downloading the File manager shortcut from the Play Store.
- Also, there is no built-in cache cleaner. So, after many attempts with 3rd party applications, I ended up with 1tap cleaner pro.
