Description

[...] It was characteristic of Metropolitan Anthony that he never wrote anything. When he spoke, he addressed his audience as if each person was unique and very beloved, rather than treating them as an anonymous crowd. Already in the 1960s, his sermons and speeches were often recorded and later published. Several of his books have been published and are still being reprinted, as they possess timeless value. They have been translated and released in many languages, even in pre-1988 Russia, that is, before their free and official publication.
Metropolitan Anthony certainly played a significant role in the spiritual revival of Russia in recent decades. His sermons focus on Christ, His Gospel, and His love for humanity. His own spiritual experience is a gift for all - a gift that Metropolitan Anthony never hesitated to share with all those who knew him. He would take each person and make them free and responsible co-participants in a very personal relationship with God, the incarnate Love!
Metropolitan Anthony often emphasized that he was not a theologian and that he had never attended a theological school. However, his entire existence and his sermons confirm the saying of the early fathers of the Church: a theologian is the person of pure prayer, the person who knows God Himself!
