The choice of the correct grain density depends on how smooth we want to make the surface:

• Small numbers (few and large grains per mm²) are ideal for quickly leveling rough surfaces.

Usually, when sanding a surface, we start our sanding with medium grain numbers (e.g., No 80-100) and then sand for more detailed and careful work with larger grain numbers (e.g., No 180-220).
