The Patriot SODIMM DDR3 RAM is aimed at demanding computer users, such as gamers, professionals in video and image editing, designers, and those who require high performance from their laptop.

DDR3

DDR3 is the third generation of RAM memory technology for computers. It replaces DDR2 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 800MT/s to 2133MT/s, response time (CAS Latency) from CL4 to CL19, while its capacity has increased up to 16GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger the size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for response time (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with the specifications of our motherboard.

The Patriot SODIMM DDR3 provides speed at 1600MT/s, with CL9 and 4GB per memory module.

Compatibility

DDR3 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Indicatively, DDR3 is compatible with Intel 3rd & 4th Gen, Pentium, and Celeron processors, as well as AMD FX and Phenom II series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to ensure that your motherboard supports DDR3 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

    In a laptop with a first-generation Intel processor, 2x PSD34G1600L2S were installed and upgraded smoothly to 8GB of RAM. The memories were synchronized at 533MHz with a 7-7-7-19 CAS latency, which was expected. Their selection was made after considerable research because each memory module needed to have 8 chips on each side in order to function properly, as first-generation Intel processors can only correctly recognize chips with 256MB of storage. Therefore, in order to have 4GB on each RAM, which is the maximum supported, each memory had to be 16 chips x 256MB = 4GB. Also, please note that they operate at 1.35V and 1.5V, making them compatible with all laptops with DDR3.

    Installed on a 7-year-old ASUS laptop. Along with a PNY 480GB SSD and replacement of the thermal paste with MX4, the laptop skyrocketed. Performance increased by 80%. With €100, if it gives me another 7 years, I'll be more than happy. Note that the RAM has 2 operating voltages: 1.35V & 1.5V. You need to check what voltage the motherboard provides to the RAM. Look into the GL and the RAM that interests you, as well as the motherboard, before making a purchase.
