The somewhat unknown bromelain is one of my favorites (quite surprisingly, considering all the supplements that exist) and not just as something recommended after surgery as the description says.
In my case, I saw overall well-being with the first intake, a feeling of deep relief from an intensity that I didn't know I had. The explanation I give is that it probably relieved underlying low-grade inflammation in various parts of the body (I was almost certain of this because after taking corticosteroids for an unrelated reason, I also felt general relief). Many of us may have similar underlying chronic inflammations due to stress, sleep patterns, and diet - we don't perceive them externally as something we have, but all together they can contribute to a generalized feeling of decline, irritability, fatigue, low mood, etc.
I also saw, unexpectedly, a sudden improvement in breathing, as if I was breathing deeper - chronic allergies and being a smoker, the only sure thing is that there is some underlying inflammation in the lungs.
During the same period, I gave it to my mother who has arthritis, and she had a flare-up of arthritis during that time to the point where she had stiffness in one of her fingers - with bromelain, this disappeared within days.
It was one of the first supplements I had tried back then, and this whole experience was enlightening about what a supplement can do for us.
It is a very powerful natural anti-inflammatory. And from what I have seen in research, it is one of the substances that can affect microglia and astrocytes, immune cells in the brain that are activated as a defense in cases of inflammation - but when they remain activated beyond the physiological need, such as in the case of chronic stress, they end up harming healthy tissues. Bromelain sends them a signal to go back to sleep.
Many seek relief from symptoms related to stress or various forms of "mental boost" and the like. One mechanism through which we can see significant improvement, although not the only one, can be with a powerful anti-inflammatory that will provide us with neuroprotective benefits. If you have symptoms that would fit a description of depression, chronic fatigue, etc., I would also try such an anti-inflammatory along with your other supplements.
I have also tried bromelain from another brand due to its price (Now, a reputable brand that I trust), and it did nothing while this one is miraculous. However, that one was in powder form in capsules, while this one is tablets and as soon as you open the box, it smells like fresh pineapple - the active ingredient seems to be sensitive, so either during the product's journey or from the acids in our stomach, the powder in a simple capsule is not protected like in the form of a hard tablet. That's also why you'll see that another very reliable brand (Life Extension) sells enteric-coated bromelain, which is gastric-resistant. So if you take bromelain, try something in this pattern.
