Unfortunately, I confirm that the body fat measurements are inaccurate, as well as the body fluid measurements! As an athlete, I have known my body metrics very well for years! I have 11-13% body fat (depending on hydration) and Garmin gives me 17.8%! Somehow, it adjusts upwards according to age and exercise level, but it still falls way off! I also ran in the heat for about an hour and measured myself before and after: I lost 1 kilo as it measured, but neither the fat nor the muscle tissue nor even the body water changed! Therefore, it does not even detect dehydration! What a pity! Otherwise, it's perfect! It easily syncs with the Garmin account and delivers on all the other promises! Omron is ultimately the best for body fat measurement!!!
After months of use: The deviation of the body fat measurement is exactly +7%. So, subtract 7 from what it shows. I don't know why it still faithfully follows the correct values in fat differentiations despite this. For example, if your fat goes from 17% to 20%, it will show 24% and then 27%... Obviously, the algorithm is completely wrong and I don't see them fixing it. However, the measurement is done somehow. Otherwise: sometimes it doesn't synchronize, which is due to Garmin's server downtime. It only reconnects on its own after 3-4 days.
Surely, it's not worth the money, although it could be accurate if someone ever corrects the algorithm. It is quite qualitative and it's convenient to see your measurements on the Garmin Connect page.
I am writing a new update (10/6/24) after years of having and using it. After the latest firmware upgrade, the problem with the body fat measurement was somewhat corrected. Now it gives numbers closer to reality (for a few months now). However, for the money it costs, it should be much more reliable.
I do not have an image for the accuracy of its measurements (so far). Due to the name Garmin, I will assume that this is true (until I verify it somehow). The information it provides is very useful for someone who wants to focus on their body. I am an advanced/experienced technology user and yet I had to spend some time dealing with some issues (especially on how to display advanced measurements for the other members/users of my household). Overall, as a scale that connects directly via Wi-Fi to the router, pairs with the mobile phone, and syncs with the Garmin Account, I would say that there are many points where a non-pro user will get stuck. However, if we leave this parameter aside, the scale works exceptionally well, and the fact that it recognizes the user and uploads all the measurements to Garmin Connect with each weigh-in is truly superb. Personally, it helps me a lot to have a comprehensive view of my activities and status in combination with my Garmin watch. We are living in the digital era...
I have changed 3 scales and finally you get what you pay for. By far the best. In combination with the rest of Garmin's products, you create a perfect personal ecosystem.
