What can you say about these speakers.
The sound is really nice and clear, and they produce such intensity from such a small enclosure that for a small office it is definitely the best you can buy for that and maybe even double the price.
I completely disagree with the criticism that they are tiring. It definitely has to do with each person's habits, but from my experience and being someone who easily gets tired with monitor speakers, these are perfectly comfortable for 1-2 hours straight.
From the first test, you can tell that you are dealing with very high-quality sound, although I expected a little more intensity based on what I had read, but over time or with "breaking in" I think they become more powerful, although you rarely put them on full volume.
However, compared to the Edifier R1700BT, they have a stronger and cleaner bass, much better throughout the range but with less intensity. Less intensity mainly because they have the clipping indicator light and you hesitate to push them further, although they don't have much of a problem with DSP, while with the Edifier you can give them more and they understand... until they get overwhelmed of course. In the ilouds, the sound is almost the same at all volumes.
I can't speak "professionally" about their sound, but if I judge from a small experience I have and from reference headphones like the Focal Elex 750€... the sound is really really good!
I will come back after testing for some music production.
Overall, I am very satisfied and I don't regret the 300€ at all.
I highly recommend them.
I bought these speakers a week ago to listen to music from my computer in my home office, and unfortunately, I was disappointed with the sound quality. The main reason is that their sound is tiring - after 5-10 minutes, I want to turn off the music. It should be noted that I have connected them to a €400 DAC (SMSL SU-9), which has a completely smooth sound character. Also, there is not good clarity in the mid and high frequencies, there is a bit of congestion, I would say. The only positive thing for me is the bass, which is full and satisfying. Needless to say, the speakers will be returned for the purchase of others.
The ecstatic comments and reviews they receive have no trace of exaggeration. We are talking about a small technological marvel. Full, flat, and balanced sound with precision, exceptional soundstage, and unbelievable bass.
If they seem expensive to you, they are NOT.
They truly have nothing to envy from comparable 5'' studio monitors, except for the volume, being 1/5 of the size!
No comparison to the Eris 3.5, Mackie CR3X, and JBL One 104, which can be considered competitors due to their size. They may offer better value for money to a non-demanding listener, due to their much lower price, but the iLouds are in a league of their own with such a complete and detailed sound.
In terms of appearance, I must say that up close they look a bit nicer and more premium than in the photos, and they are really VERY small.
They also have EQ options at the back, which are useful since depending on the room, you may need to lower the bass(!) a bit or raise the treble a little.
The only drawback is that obviously they don't handle very high volumes, however, don't get me wrong... They are MORE than enough for the intended use, and still more than you would expect for their size.
If you truly want reference studio monitors in a very small package, look no further.
The speakers are superb. If you want to upgrade from a 2.1 system but still want a woofer sound and mini size for your desk, these are it. Nothing else I've tried compares.
Incredible bass for such a small size! Simply unbelievable.
The price is steep. But good taste comes at a cost.
Nov 20, '22: I am even more satisfied than when I first got them. They are incredible for their size. One of the best purchases I've made.
Their sound is much bigger than their size. No one believes that two 3" speakers can produce such volume and bass!
They are definitely very "near field" if we want to hear them properly. Placed at 50-60 inches between them and the listener, they reproduce studio monitor and HiFi sound together!!!
I mainly use them to listen to music but also as multimedia speakers. You can even enjoy the news!
Very precise and pleasant sound. Do not doubt that they are worth their money!
I bought these speakers hesitantly. I use them exclusively for the sound source of my Nord Electro 6. I have owned this instrument for 2 years. I bought it purely as a tool for my work, as I needed a quality instrument as a pianist. However, I didn't think at the time that the coronavirus would keep me at home with it... so for the past two years, I have been using it exclusively at home, with a PA system as the sound source. I thought it was time to upgrade the sound quality in my ears, as I knew very well that this instrument truly shows its power only on studio monitors. Of course, as some may know, the Nord company also offers speakers specifically designed for their instruments. Unfortunately, these speakers were too expensive. And so, searching for an alternative, I ended up here...
The iLoud speakers are truly exceptional. I am amazed by their performance. I still can't believe the sound quality they produce for their size. Of course, I also use them with Bluetooth, which works perfectly without any issues. I would easily use them for production as well.
I highly recommend them to colleagues like myself, who are looking for a clean sound source for their stage pianos, as well as anyone looking to buy studio monitors for a minimal home studio. Minimal in terms of capacity, not sound, as these speakers have nothing to envy from studio monitors like KRK Rokit or Yamaha HS8.
Unbelievable sound, I honestly didn't expect it. You can hear details in the songs that you can't hear with regular computer speakers for sure. And the bass is truly unbelievable for their size. I wanted to buy something high-quality for my computer that wouldn't take up much space on my desk. Even at high volume, they maintain the same sound quality. I had read in some reviews (on Amazon, etc.) that at low frequencies for sustained sounds, they might resonate or produce a faint buzzing, but I haven't experienced anything like that, and I've tested them with music that has excessively heavy bass. I am very satisfied, now time will tell if they will have any technical issues or not, but they seem to be very well-made despite being plastic. Perhaps the best computer speakers, definitely the best I have tried. I'm not an audio engineer and I certainly don't use them as monitor speakers, but for personal computer use/home office, they are perfect. I imagine they would be equally exceptional for a studio, for someone who wants studio-quality sound in a small size. Plus, you can adjust the sound from the speaker so that it's not completely flat like a reference monitor speaker (which I prefer and use, the corresponding settings are binary, of course, on/off for desk, high and low frequencies respectively), and the Bluetooth (which I haven't extensively tested yet, but I don't use it much, only if a friend comes over and wants to play music from Spotify, for example). Finally, they seem comfortable for listening to music for a long time at a normal volume, probably because of their clean sound.
Amazing purchase for those who want good studio sound but have limited space. The only downside is the very low frequencies that cannot be reproduced due to the dimensions.
Although their small size may seem strange, their sound is truly a revelation. Full of bass, volume, clean flat sound, and very high-quality construction. For those who have limited space, travel frequently, or need speakers as a "second opinion" for music production, they are a very commendable choice. Another big plus is that they have Bluetooth, so you can easily use them with Spotify, etc.
